This Bond Between Us

I know this bond between us,
Though sometimes stressed,
Stressed and stretched,
Will never snap, and fling
Each away directionless;
This distance between us
Can never sever these ties
Though elastic they may be,
Of a long, long love affair;
Our voyage through this life
With one another
So necessary, so essential
Sometimes exasperating,
Yes ... wonderfully exasperating.

[I took this stanza from an earlier poem Knowing You Are in the World. It seemed forced in the previous poem, somewhat out of place. I think it stands on its own.]
