"We need a cage to be built for this to work, but I'm not sure if Miss Peregrine will allow us," I breathed heavily, looking over at Enoch whose eyes were clouded with sorrow. There weren't any tears falling, he just seemed broken. "What's it for, love?" He asks.
"The next time Auttie possesses me, you have to push me inside. Do anything you can, get the children to help you—just make sure I'm not out in the open. Because Gruff won't talk her out of it. He's hoping that within a few hours, she'll eventually get out by herself. But Auttie will be weak and unstable, and my body will probably be worn out,"
"What if you can't make it?" Enoch whispers, more to himself than anyone else. A single tear fell on his cheek and I wiped it away with my thumb.
"Don't cry, you're making me sadder than I already am," I tried to smile, but failed miserably. "I'll be fine, okay? I can do it,"
"Stop trying to feign braveness, Y/N. I know you're scared, and so am I." Enoch wept, placing a hand on my cheek. He was right. I was scared, and already weak.
I twisted my head to the side, avoiding his intoxicating gaze as I fiddled with my thumbs. "I'll make it," I whispered, quiet enough that even Enoch wouldn't hear.
"We can ask Miss Peregrine tomorrow about the cage. Goodnight, love." Enoch sighed. I could tell that he wanted to kiss me, or at least my cheek, but seeing me in the state that I was in, he chose not to. I heard his footsteps fade and my door closes.

"Y/N, wake up." I opened my eyes, seeing the blurry figure floating in front of me. I rub my tired eyeballs, seeing Gruff in front of me with a grin on his face. "Have you talked to Miss Peregrine?"
I yawn sleepily, sitting up. "I haven't." I replied simply and Gruff rolls his eyes. "Okay, do you plan on doing so? Because I don't think that cage will build itself, woman."
"God, when did you get so rude?" I chuckled and stood up to my wardrobe. "Now shoo. I'm not changing in front of you."
"Why, yes, of course, 'cause you'll only ever change in front of Eeeeeenoch." He drags his name out, as a light blush creeps up on my cheeks.
"Just get the fuck out, Gruff." I laugh.
~
"Miss Peregrine!" I call out to the woman walking in front of me, who was about to turn into her bird form when I stopped her. The headmistress turned her head, raising a brow at me.
"I-I wanna talk..." I said awkwardly as she shook her head. "I have somewhere else to be, darling. Save your talking for when I arrive,"
"No! It's really important, I swear," I protest, and she sighs.
"Well, make it quick, I don't have all day."
I finish explaining my plan to her, including the story behind it, and was about to ask her if we could build the cage when she stopped me.
"Listen, Y/N. This all sounds very dreadful and I would hate to leave, but I have to," Miss Peregrine remarks, observing her pocket watch as it ticked quietly.
Ignoring her sentence, I spoke up. "Can we build a cage?"
She sighed audibly. "Alright. As long as you'll be careful. Take care of yourselves."
Yes!
She turns her body and backs up to transform into her falcon form as I run back inside the house, frantically searching for Enoch.
