Michael cuddled up in his blanket, breath heavy, face red. The dark. Michael was afraid of the dark. He didn't want to tell his friend Y/N because he thought they would make fun of him.
The walls. They closed in on him, tighter, tighter, and tighter. No room. Darkness. Y/N's breath heaved. They woke up in a panic gasping for air. Y/N was also afraid of the darkness.
Their hair was a mess and their body was shaking. Tears threatened to spill. Violent shaking, no light. Light.
Michael cried and reached down for Y/N, but they were also reaching for Michael. Reaching for safety.
"Protect me please" Y/N quietly begged to Michael. He wrapped his arms around them, trying. Trying to make sure they were safe.
Safe from harm.
Safe from hate.
Safe from the darkness that surrounded them.
He kissed their cheek, lovingly. Love. He loved his best friend, he wanted to protect them.
Protect.
Y/N looked up at him, and kissed his nose. Both stared at each other. Eyes locked. Breaths mingled.
