Tris PoV

I wake up in my bed. Wait. What? I was at Tobias' house just a minute ago. My eyes flutter open but close from the sudden light. Its about sunset and the light just happens to be hitting my face.

Tobias PoV

I pace outside the door of Tris' room. I still can't believe that she did that. She must really care about me. No Tobias, she doesn't, she just felt pity for you. You saw her leave the house. But she did come back. She probably heard your scream and came to investigate. Then she felt pity for you.

*Flashback*

When I did see her walk across the lawn to her house, I felt sadness. I just opened up to her and she left me with that monster. She mouthed something before I left the window. I couldn't make out what she said but the fact that she tried to say something to me brought a slight smile to my face. Before Marcus left the window he whispered to me  "See even someone like Beatrice doesn't care about you. She didn't stay and take the pain for you. What a shame."

I was so mad but I couldn't show it. It would show I don't want her to get hurt and he will use that against me. He started off like every other punishment I've ever gotten from him. I let out a scream when I hear him say "You piece of shit. Maybe I will just go and show Beatrice the type of punishments you get." I never want to see Tris go through what I go through. That will be the thing that brakes me down.

I scream instead of fight back. I guess he reframed from hitting me again. Probably to see me in pain. Does this amuse that bastard? He lifted his belt once again and he repeats "This is for your own good."

I hear crack but don't feel anything. No pain or anything. I look back confused. The door is opened and a figure is let's out a scream. The person looks familiar. The blond hair. The small frame. Tris.

She got punched twice and I was enraged just like Marcus was but in a different way. He says something but I don't hear anything because I can only hear my heart beating in my ears. Something in me sparked and I pulled her behind me. Yelled at him. Held her close to me so I could protect her from the outside world. I sent an upper cut straight at Marcus. He topples to the floor and let's there. Unconscious. Good I think, he deserved worse.

*Flashback over*

I think I need to go get some fresh air, it suddenly seemed claustrophobic in here. I start down the stairs and see 'Caleb' standing there. That's when I remember something. I met them when I first got here. Well I didn't really meet them but I did stare into those gorgeous eyes that belong to Tris. Now I remember. Marcus knows her mom and dad. If he doesn't believe what I hope I made him believe, then he will lie to Tris' parents and tell them things that never happened. I can't let that happen.

I walk past Caleb and reach for the door handle.

"Um... you didn't do that to her, did you?" he asks.

I sigh, "No. Marcus did."

A little sign of anger rolls onto his face but quickly rolls away. "Okay. Well... um Thank you for knocking Marcus out. I would do it myself but I'm more of a books and papers than a muscles and fights type of person."
