Finding it

A horn blows. Around me, my fellow Demeter campers groan. Most shift in their beds and continue to sleep, but Miranda and I can't. Today is the day.

Everyone whose going on the trip will be meeting at the big house at eight o'clock. My alarm was set an hour before departure, so I have enough time to get ready and meet Travis at his cabin then head over at the big house.

I hop in the shower, wash my hair and self then get out. I brush teeth and do my hair, leaving it down. I put on a floral print shirt some jeans and a hoodie. I grab my small suitcase and head out towards the Hermes cabin.

When I get close enough, I see Travis already out on its patio holding just a backpack. He spots me and comes over. As he's walking over he tosses me an apple. I top in my tracks.

Holy Hera. Did he just.. no.. he did not just propose to me. He did not! I think. Be reasonable, Katie, he didn't mean to propose, we're so young! Then why did he toss me an apple?

Then I make eye contact with him and understand. I love you. He tossed me the apple to say 'I love you.' Do I love him back? Do I really?

I don't know. We've only recently begun really dating. Do I say it back and mean it, or say I love you and be unsure?

I don't know if I love him yet. Instead, I kiss him on the cheek.

"Eat now, incase we don't have time later." He says. His face reddens. He takes my duffle bag for me and holds my hand with his other one. We start walking to the big house.

I feel my own face heating up and kiss his check again. By the time we get to the Big House there are already a lot of campers there. "Separate into cabins, please!" Chiron says over all the talking and with that all the campers go quiet.

"Please stick with your siblings as you will be heading over to Mount Olympus in those groups of two to three. From Mount Olympus, your parent will transport you to New Rome themselves. Then when you arrive at the Gates of New Rome, Reyna—their Praetor—will call upon one of her own campers to lead you to you an your siblings quarters. After having dropped off your belongings, meet me back at the shopping area."

Everyone blinks at the amount of information given.

"Am I understood?" He asks.

Everyone mutters a yes in answer.

"Good, now please, get into your groups."

Travis and I spot Miranda and Connor. As myself and Miranda are the only ones from the Demeter Cabin going, Travis and Connor are the only ones from Hermes.

Slowly but surely the groups disappear as the campers make their way to the Empire State Building. Each group is 10 to 20 mins behind the next, so that monsters would have a hard—well, harder—time finding us as our groups are small and we are spread out with such space between one party to the the next.

"Hermes!" Chiron yells. Now as it is the boy's turn to leave its our turn say our goodbyes.

Travis turns and gives me a hug. "I'll see you soon, Kates," he says.

"See you," I say giving him a kiss on the check once more as I take my bag from him, "it won't be too long."

"I know," Travis nervously adjusts his own bag. "Safe travels though, love."
