Hey there, Block Partiers! I hope you guys are enjoying summer and all it entails: cute lifeguards, popsicles, and catching up on all those books and shows on your list. Most of us don't look forward to the end of summer, but there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel!
The first day of school (assuming you're still in it, that is!)!
It's going to be awesome!
You're positive that this is your year to slay!
But if you're like me and high school/college is in your rearview mirror, I hope I'll get a few nodding heads and grins at the #sorelatable disparity between expectations and reality.
Because let's face it, first days rarely go our way.
Here's a few shattered expectations some of us might remember! And some of you may want to avoid :p
1. The aesthetic workspace that is hashtag goals.

Despite our best intentions, it NEVER stays that clean and Instagram-perfect! Goodbye washi tape and cute stickers, hello chewed-up pen butts and coffee-stained notes!
2. The guy staring at you...

Sometimes the cute guy who can't stop staring at you...
...is just a creep who you're scared to make eye contact with for the rest of the semester!
3. This year, you and your friends are going to get the BEST spot to sit for lunch.

...yeah, you got the one by the trash again. You and your friends can still have a great time, just make sure to avoid getting splashed by chocolate milk!
4. You're totally going to reinvent your style this year.

Except you totally didn't pick out your outfit the night before. Or you did and you changed your mind in the morning. Either way, now you're hunting through your chock-full closet and screeching "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!!!!"
You guys think you have it bad?
Imagine a day when this happens:
— First days in a new school can be tough...especially when someone takes a potshot at you in the parking lot! (Silver Stilettos)
— Instead of kissing Prince Charming, you have to kiss a frog. And if you don't...you're expelled! (Ever After Poe)
— First day at a new school and you discover your mysterious new "friends" may have had something to do with the disappearance of their classmates...and you might be next. (Deadlies)
— Yay, no more school! Too bad it's come at the cost of the end of the world. (Forever is a Place I Know)
