Hi, everyone! First of all, thank you so much to Kelly for giving me this wonderful opportunity to participate in the Wattpad Block Party for the fourth time. I feel extremely honored to be here. Second, let me introduce myself, because I'm trying to seem professional, but not really. I'm Nicola, better known as @twirlingwands (formerly RealisticWriting) on Wattpad, and I'm here to present the blurb and an excerpt from the first chapter of my upcoming teen fiction/tragic romance novel 'No Strings Attached'. Lastly, I want to thank all my readers for supporting me all throughout this lengthy, yet amazing journey. You guys rock. <3

Mariko Tachibana has always been like a fish out of water; underestimated, stereotyped, and oppressed by her peers. With each day that passes, she looks forward to a new beginning in which she finally blends in with every other person in Rivercrest High. But deep inside, that's not the only thing her heart desires.

Cage Preston has always felt like he was missing a significant, happier part of his life. Nothing has ever been the same for him ever since he was humiliated at an initiation two years ago. At present, he enters a new school at a town far away from his sorrow and troubles. Could this fresh start be all he yearns and searches for?

When these two unsuspecting souls meet, an indestructible bond forms between them, strengthened through wall conversations, little chats over coffee, and rebellious teenage exploits.

The only question is, will they finally be able to unearth the solutions to each of their inner struggles and find salvation while entangled in the binding strings of fate?

A few more hopeless sobs and countless tears later, Cage could no longer take it. It was as if his heart was being tortured and he needed to relieve the pain. Taking a deep breath, he sat on the floor with his back to the wall, and uncertainly tapped it twice.

"Hello?" he called out to no one in particular, waiting for a reply. A moment of silence ensued, and Cage debated whether to stay or leave.

"Just so you know, you don't have to talk to me. You're here, on the other side of the wall, attempting to strike up a conversation with me only because you heard my crying. I don't need you to feel bad for me, comfort me, give me some hope that's going to fade in a day or two, and leave. I don't need your pity, as well as another miserable person to put up with," spoke a feminine voice.

Cage breathed out a sigh of relief he didn't know he was holding in, but soon after, he tensed up again since he was not exactly a master at conquering this type of situation. "Are you okay? I heard you crying, and I want to make you feel better. Please talk to me; tell me your problems. I want to listen to you. Maybe I can help," he said, resting his head against the wall.

"What can you do? They'll never stop inflicting pain upon me until the last precious drop of my life drips from the wounds they left behind. Every day is a new story of my suffering, and their pleasure," she explained, choking on her tears.

Ka-bump. Ka-bump. Ka-bump. He could hear her heart pounding from all the way through the wall, reverberating off the four corners of his room, and repeatedly echoing in his mind. He felt her sorrow, her anguish, her despair. She was a flightless, caged bird stretching her stiff wings, yearning for a sweet taste of freedom, trapped behind the restricting bars of society and its unreasonable expectations. She strived as she made her way to overcome the obstructed path towards her hopes and dreams. She was more than anything Cage could ever be.

"Sometimes, all I want to do is die. It's not like I ever wished to be born anyway," the girl uttered, tears spilling over her rosy cheeks, flushed in vexation and fury over the various cruelties of the world.
