Hey, guys! I'm M.Kane (you might know me by my username Toxic_Wonderland). Huge thanks to KellyAnneBlount for all her hard work putting this together. This is my first time taking part in any Wattpad Block Party and I hope to take part in many, many more! For this edition, I'll be sharing the first chapter of my upcoming Mystery/Thriller multimedia story, Hero for Hire. (And for those of you who are curious, the GIF up above was made by the talented SherWritesBooks).
The story follows college student and political activist Elliot Hill, who lives in a world where superheroes have become a massive privatized business. After lawsuits and imprisonments, the accidental destruction of several cities, the once do-gooders became cynical and antagonized, resorting to only helping civilians with a contract and for a price. It makes help notoriously hard to come by. But when his life is danger, Elliot bribes a particularly nasty hero into helping him. Together, they uncover a plot far more sinister than either had imagined.
