Plot Facts:
1. The face claims usually are either Megan Fox or some badass chick. Or any overused face claim such as Lucy Hale, Alexandra Daddario, Victoria Justice (a bonus if mother of OC is Elena or Katherine), Crystal Reed etc etc.
2. Blue eyes are a must.
3. Either the mother is Elena, or Katherine or some random bar mate who died.

4. OC is mini Damon. And has all his bad parts. That is, OC is arrogant, prejudiced, bears grudges, drinks a lot, self centered, impulsive and unnecessarily manipulative. But is still popular enough to win the most agreeable girl in Mystic Falls award.

5. And dates Kol or Klaus. I mean how is that even possible? Kol I can understand, but seriously Klaus would never date her since he's prejudiced af.

6. OC smokes, drinks, is a druggie, a depressed mental case but still is portrayed as cool. And the story usually has a lot of emotional scenes with OC breaking down to tears because of some insanely random reason. "My Nutella jar just got finished, Imma go cry my eyes out in a corner. Weh..."

7. OC usually just turns up at Damon's door with no possible explanation other than the you are my dad thing. And some random bullshit about her Mom forgetting to tell her before and just leaving the precious information in a will or spoke it as some memorable last words.
8. Damon believes her instantly. The f wrong with him?
9. Stefan and OC are very close.
10. Authors aren't really creative when it comes to naming their fanfics. More than 176 such stories are just tiled as Damon's Daughter.
11. There are many similarities to the Salvatore Sister concept as well.
12. Damon is portrayed in a much out of character way. It depends on the author basically. If the author is a Delena shipper and OC is their daughter then Damon turns out to be this protective and caring father who loves his daughter more than anything in the world and can do anything for her. If author is Stelena shipper and OC happens to be Damon and Elena's unwanted daughter then Damon is portrayed as a ruthless self centered jerk who tosses the girl around like a piece of crap.

13. If the story is set in 1864, the mother is either Kath or one of Kath's handmaids, which, let me remind you are non existent since she only trusted Emily Bennett enough to keep her with herself always. And the 1864 plot line is extremely similar to Salvatore Sister concept.
14. Jeremy, Matt, Bonnie, Caroline, Tyler, Enzo, Rose, Isobel, Alaric etc etc etc are rather invisible throughout the story. Same goes for Elijah, Hayley and Rebekah.
15. And last but definitely not least... OC's nature. Authors just can't seem to decide whether OC is human, vampire, witch, werewolf or hybrid of all four. Mostly she's a supernatural. But which one exactly? Not so sure.
