More Than Friends

Tears and Hugs

Lena cleared her throat and Kara backed away. Kara looked behind her sister and saw Maggie sitting beside the bed laughing into a pillow. Kara shot her a glare and Maggie stopped laughing.

Several minutes later, Lena looked up from the spot on the floor she was staring at when she felt a pair of eyes watching her. She saw Alex walking over to her and Lena's cheeks turned red. Lena began to scoot over but Alex stopped her, "You're fine there." Alex reassured Lena. "Okay." Lena said quietly, while shifting to hug her knees to her chest. Alex sat next to Lena, unsure of what to say. "I'm sorry for what happened earlier." Alex apologized to the younger girl. "It's okay." Lena said, clearly embarrassed, but she didn't want to cause a problem with her friends' sister. Alex felt horrible. She didn't know what to say. All she could do is give Lena a hug.

Lena felt safe with Alex, it was a weird feeling. It was like being with Kara. Lena closed her eyes. Kara. Kara. Kara. Lena opened her eyes only ten seconds later. She felt her eyes water. Kara. Alex looked down and saw Lena's sad expression. She took Lena's hands and led her to the bathroom. Alex let Lena sit on the toilet while Alex kneeled in front of her.

"What's wrong?" Alex said, really meaning it. "I, I'm gay." Lena started. "I know, honey." Alex said calmly. "And I-I can't go kissing people. I don't kiss people unless... I mean," Lena became frustrated " I mean, Kara means the world to me and I can't let anything progress between us because my damn mother is a bitch an if something was to happen she will ruin both Kara's life, and mine. And I don't know what I would do if Kara ever hated me." by the time Lena finished speaking, a river of tears were streaming down her face.

She tried choking down her sobs so Kara wouldn't hear but, it didn't make a difference. Kara was listening from the beginning. Kara rushed through the door and threw her arms around Lena. Lena sobbed into Kara's shoulder and Kara hugged her tighter, careful not to crush her. "You mean the world to me too." Kara whispered into Lena's ear. Lena nodded but all that sentence did was make her cry harder. Alex looked up at Maggie who was standing in the doorway. Alex got up, walked to out of the bathroom with Maggie, and closed the door behind them.

"You - you weren't meant to - to hear that." Lena said between sobs. "Lena," Kara said trying to get her friend's attention "Lena look at me." Kara said tearing up. Lena looked up at Kara. Lena's scleras, the white part of your eyes, was red from crying and her usually bright green eyes were dulled. "There is nothing. Absolutely nothing, that could ever make me hate you. I promise you, that I will never, be able to hate you. No matter what you or anyone else ever does." Kara said. Lena looked like a different person. Kara finally saw the hurt and scared young girl, hiding behind the brave and powerful woman. She saw the pain and the hurt in Lena's eyes, the scars left behind by her mother and her brother. It made Kara angry. No, furious. But then she remembered that she had to comfort her friend, so she did that instead of going mad with anger.

After about twenty minutes, Lena was relatively okay, and she walked out of the bathroom with Kara holding her hand. Kara and Lena sat beside Maggie and Alex.

Alex cleared her throat. She was going to ask if Lena was okay, but decided not to in order to allow the poor girl to take her mind off the situation. "So, it's kind of late," she said looking to the clock "do you guys wanna watch a movie?" she smiled, trying to brighten the mood. All three of them looked to Lena, to get her approval, but she was playing with a piece of the rug. Kara tapped her hand and Lena's head snapped up. "Yes?" she asked. "Do you wanna watch a movie?" Lena smiled and nodded her head "How would I not want to?"

After they finished the movie, they all went to their rooms. Alex and Maggie slept in Alex's bed, and Lena and Kara slept on the pull out sofa. It was surprisingly very comfortable. Lena wasn't really sleeping, but she was trying to. Eventually, she did.

When they all woke up. They brushed their teeth, and ate breakfast together. "How did you too sleep?" Kara asked Maggie and Alex. Maggie looked over at Alex and smirked at her. Alex smacked her lightly on the shoulder and smiled. "Pretty good," Alex nodded "how about you guys?" she asked before putting a spoonful of cereal in her mouth. "We slept good too." Lena replied "but obviously not as good as you too." she said chuckling. Maggie, Alex and Kara all started bursting into fits of laughter. Lena laughed along with them and soon enough, the laughter died down. "That was really funny, Lena." Maggie admitted. "Thanks." Lena smiled.

By the time it was lunch, Alex and Maggie went to the lobby to pick up the pizza they had order and took longer than Lena and Kara expected. Both were sitting on the couch, hand in hand. "You remind me of potstickers." Kara smiled at Lena. Lena raised an eyebrow, "How so?" she chuckled. "I love potstickers." Kara answered. Lena blushed and smiled, "You, Kara Danvers. Are something else." she shook her head. "Well, thats good right? Because you've never dated anyone like me? So you wouldn't know what dating someone like me would be like." Kara smiled slyly. Lena knew what she was getting at but she didn't really care. "So wouldn't you like to know what dating someone like me would be like?" Kara asked. She knew it was a long shot, after what had happened the other night, but it was worth trying. Lena sighed, and thought to herself for a few seconds. "Well..." Lena said, not completely sure what she should do. All Kara could do to convince her was look at Lena with her big pleading eyes. "Alright, but we have to talk about boundaries later." Lena smiled.

The girls inside of the apartment heard a scream outside of the door. They both ran to the door and opened it. On the other side, they saw Maggie jumping up and down squealing. Lena had her hand on her heart, with her mouth open in shock. Alex was laughing at her ridiculous girlfriend. Maggie ran into the apartment and pulled both Lena and Kara into a group hug. "You guys are so CUTE!" Maggie laughed. Alex closed and locked the door after she walked through it.
