I was feeling dizzy

I was feeling dizzy.

I always felt dizzy, especially upon standing too fast or moving too quickly.

But today the feeling was intensified. I felt nauseous and dizzy, my head throbbing every time I moved.

When feeling like this, I'd usually reach for a pack of sugar-free gum or some caffeine. But without my go-to items, I felt trapped.

"You don't look so good," Kelani said, her eyes sweeping over me. "You look super pale."

"We all do," Rebecca said, jutting out her arms. "I'm a redhead and I've even lost my freckles."

Kelani sat next to me. "Are you feeling alright?"

I nodded, feeling lethargic as I did so. "Just tired I think."

She slowly stood up, eyeing me in the entire time. "If you're sure."

"I'm fine, really."

She nodded toward Nurse Olivia. "I'm stepping out for a smoke. You sure you're okay?"

I nodded, and she left the room with Rebecca, Brittany close to follow.

I reopened my journal, my pen in hand.

The first page remained blank, as I still didn't know what to write.

How do I go about explain how it feels to be out of control?

So instead I began to doodle. I found that it was easier to express my emotions through drawings and captions.

Poorly executed drawings, but mine nonetheless.

I don't know how long I sat there, doodling in my journal, until I felt a presence beside me.

I looked up to see Brad sitting down across the table from me. But he didn't seem to be paying me any attention, his journal open as well, the pen gliding across the page.

At first I thought that the presence of someone else while I was writing in my journal would make me feel uncomfortable, exposed. But it actually felt peaceful. To sit in silence with someone, both working on individual tasks yet still somehow connected.

And so we both continued working in silence, neither one of us acknowledging the other's presence.

That is, until my vision began to blur.

I blinked a few times to clear it, but my head was too fogged to think clearly.

My pen clattered to the floor as I went to stand, almost immediately crashing to the floor.

"Emily?" a voice shouted.

I recognized it to be Kelani's.

"Nurse Jaclyn!" Kelani called out. "Nurse Olivia!"

My vision began to fade as I heard footsteps running toward me.

"Emily? Emily!"

I couldn't move my mouth to speak, my eyelids too heavy to keep open.

The whole scenario felt familiar. But last time I was puking up blood.

Maybe this was it. What all of the nurses and doctors had warned me about. Maybe I'd finally met my end.

And then everything faded into black.

And then everything faded into black

I'm currently en route to the airport where I'll fly out to Fallzswimmer to begin our journey to WattCon!

I can't wait to see everyone there! And if you're not going, don't forget they're live streaming the event :)
