I glanced around me

I glanced around me. This flower field felt so familiar, but yet I couldn't place it.

And then there was a familiar touch on my shoulder.

I turned to see the blonde standing beside me again, her wispy fingers resting on my shoulder as she studied me with her bright blue eyes.

"Hello again," I said, with a smile.

"Don't."

I stepped back at her hostile tone, the dark look taking over her gentle features.

"Do you believe in monsters?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.

I glanced around the flower field. The sun had suddenly darkened, the moon nowhere to be seen. "I don't know."

Her hand was back on my shoulder, a rough touch this time. She forcibly turned me to face her.

Her blue eyes had been replaced with coal black ones, her gaze never wavering from mine.

"I guess I could," I whispered, as I stared into her soulless eyes.

"Monsters are the calories in food."

I slowly nodded.

"Monsters are the size of your jeans."

I glanced down at my legs, watching as they ballooned out before my eyes.

All of those calories I'd consumed, I was watching them manifest into cellulite.

"I am your monster."

My breathing became shallow, my voice escaping me.

"You want to be perfect, don't you?"

I found my gaze connecting with hers again, and my head slowly nodding.

That's all I ever wanted.

"Perfection isn't achieved through food."

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't work this time."

I felt the lump grow in my throat. "What can I do?"

A smile began to spread across her face. But unlike the gentle one from before, this one was dark and sinister. This one was ominous, threatening almost.

"You'll never be thin enough to please me."

"What can I do?" I asked, my voice breaking. "Anything. I'll do anything."

"Repeat after me."

I nodded as she placed both hands on my shoulders, her gaze boring into mine.

"You shall not eat breakfast or lunch."

"I shall not each breakfast or lunch."

"Dinner shall be avoided if possible."

"Dinner shall be avoided if possible."

I couldn't help but notice the way her lips curled upwards after each sentence, her smile becoming more and more menacing.

"Look over there."

I did as she asked, and I watched as the chicken I'd had for lunch began to overspill with maggots and worms.

I choked back a gag, placing my hand on my stomach.

"Think of every meal as so."

"I will think of every meal as so."

"Exercise. Every day."

I looked back up at her. "But I can't. They have me trapped here."

"Under your covers. Late night. If you're truly committed, you will find a way."

My head hung low. "I will find a way."

"You will never be skinny enough. You will never be good enough. You will never be enough."

I felt my eyes hot with tears, and I slowly nodded. "I understand."

She released me, shoving me away.

I stumbled in the field, my vision blurring around me.

"Don't disappoint me."

Writing these dream sequences are so weird... Yet I sort of like it? It's different, but in a good way. I think.

I still can't believe that WattCon is over... I'm hungover af and ready to sleep for the next two days.
