"You're reckless no wonder my mom says you're a bad influence," Jo said as she handed you your drink.

"Well I mean you never know until you try right? And now we know, salt grenades work. You're welcome. Feel free to pass that along as you see fit. No need to let my research go waste," you laughed. You downed your drink, hissing slightly as it burned your throat. The front door opened and 2 men walked through the door. Ellen immediately went to greet them but you couldn't hear their conversation over the noise of the rest of the packed bar. The older of the two looked your way. He looked stunned for a moment but quickly recovered and flashed you a brilliant smile. You smiled back but turned away when you felt your face begin to flush.

"Who's that?" you asked Jo. She turned toward the door and scoffed.

"Don't even bother trying (y/n)."

"That doesn't answer my question Jo."

"Dean. Dean Winchester," she answered reluctantly.

"Ah, the man we've all heard so much about." You snuck another look at him. "Looks well worth a try to me."

"I tried. Didn't work out so well for me," Jo said under her breath in a defeated tone.

"So nothing happened between you two?"

"Nope. And it wasn't for lack of trying on my part," she said with a tight-lipped smile. Her tone was heavy with bitterness but you couldn't pick it up over the commotion of the room.

"Well here's hoping I have better luck," you said as you saw Dean approaching from the corner of your eye.

"This seat taken?" he asked.

"Not at all," you smiled. He sat down and offered his hand to you.

"Name's Dean. Dean Winchester."

"(f/n) (l/n)." You shook his hand before gesturing to Jo who was still standing in front of you.

"And you know Jo right?"

"I do. How you been since we've seen you last?" he asked her.

"Just fine. Pick up a hunt every now and again."

"That's what me and Sam just finished up on. Sam's my brother," Dean said turning back to you. He gestured over his shoulder and you saw Sam laughing with Ash at the other end of the bar.

"What were you hunting?" you asked.

"Nothing interesting. Just the usual vengeful spirit," he answered. He looked down and saw your empty glass. "Hey, let me get you another one. What are you drinking?"

"Whiskey. Neat."

"A woman after my own heart," he smiled. "2 whiskeys Jo?"

"Sure," she said unenthusiastically. She made up the drinks and put them in front of you and left without saying a work.

"So where do you hunt (y/n)?" Dean asked.

"I stick to the south mostly. Never run out of cases there," you said after a sip of your drink. "I just got off a vengeful spirit case myself. 3 old ladies haunting this poor single Dad's house."

"Three?" You nodded.

"Three. But it gave me a chance to test out something I've had on my mind."

"And what was this something?" Dean asked with a smile.

"Get this," you said with a dramatic pause. "Salt grenades."

Jo watched you both for the rest of the night. She soon realized that Dean wasn't relentlessly hitting on you like he normally did with every other girl. From what she could hear you were both exchanging countless hunting stories. You both laughed and smiled, genuinely enjoying one another's company. Jo had never seen Dean act that way before. He would hang on to your every word and at times would look at you as if in a daze and Jo didn't think it had anything to do with the alcohol. Every time she saw him smile at you the knot in her stomach grew tighter and she would have to look away and distract herself. You had been talking for hours when Sam went over and interrupted you.
