#61/ Gabriel "Welcome back. Now fucking help me." requested by cool2s from dA

Gabriel examined the research and notes you had assembled. Or as he liked to call it, "the serial killer wall." He looked over the pictures and scribblings in disbelief.

"This...this can't be right." He shook his head. "I mean seriously (y/n), this can't be what your hunting."

"It's the only thing it can be! Whatever it is strong and fast. And tiny," you said with a perplexed look. "Really...really tiny."

"But gnomes?" Gabriel questioned. You threw your hands up in exasperation.

"It's all I got."

"This is insane," he laughed. "Can you kill them?"

"You tell me, you're the archangel." He shook his head.

"I must have not been paying attention when these things started crawling around. The only gnomes I've seen were animated and voiced by British actors."

"James McAvoy is actually Scottish," you interjected.

"Oh whatever. So what are you gonna do?"

"Well, they're wasn't much lore to go off. But they're earthy beings so weed killer maybe?"

"No you need one of the those whack-a-mole hammers. Go Harley Quinn on the little bastards," he said, miming the action.

"Gabriel that's horrible," you said with a laugh.

"But effective," he defended.

"I'm just gonna use the tactic that has never failed me in life thus far," you said.

"And what's that?"

"I'm gonna wing it."

-

You pulled up to the farmhouse in question some time later. You and Gabriel lugged the several bottles of weed killer you'd bought and made your way to the backyard. There you found what looked like a large anthill. All around you could see various trails from where the suspected gnomes and traveled in the Earth. You were contemplating the best way to go about this when Gabriel's phone went off He pulled it out to look at a text and laughed at whatever it said.

"Oh man, I gotta get to Balthazar's."

"Why?"

"He's got this...ah you wouldn't get it. It's an angel thing. I'll be back in 15."

"Wait but-" it was too late. He was already gone. You huffed in annoyance before turning back to the task at hand.

"Here goes nothing," you said. You poured one of the jugs of week killer down the mouth of the hole. Nothing happened. You sighed in defeat but stopped. You could have sworn you heard the slightest rumble. You listened intently and the rumble grew louder and louder until the ground began visibly vibrating.

Suddenly numerous dusty beings started pouring out of the anthill. They looked like dirt clots the size of water bottles but you began to make out limbs and facial features. They were stocky little things with large noses and heads but tiny appendages. They started pounding on your feet and trying to climb up your jeans. You shook them off and kicked a few but they kept coming after you. You managed to stomp on a few and they disintegrated into back into dirt. They kept coming and coming before long you were overwhelmed and forced to run. The herd of dirt clots pursued you leaving a cloud of dust in their wake.

"Maybe I didn't think this through," you said out loud.

-

Gabriel returned 20 minutes later, laughing and wiping tears from his eyes.

"Oh man what a good time," he said. "(y/n) you got this wrapped up or-"

He stopped at the sight in front of him. You were on the ground being attacked by little dirt men. They crawled all over you hitting and biting you. Several were pulling strands of your hair angrily while you cursed and swore at them. You were grabbing as many as you could and crushed them in your hands. Your thrashing legs managed to take out a few but you were completely overwhelmed.

"Welcome back," you called to Gabriel, throwing two of the gnomes off your shoulders. "Now fucking help me!"

Gabriel ran towards you and swatted off the creatures from your legs. As he was helping you he didn't notice the mob gathering behind him. They ran forward and slammed against his calves, sending him tumbling over you. When he rolled over he saw you being dragged away as you wildly thrashed to get free.

"Get the hose!" you exclaimed. "The hose!" You disappeared around the corner and Gabriel searched frantically for the water hose. He found it a few yards away thrown under a carport. There was dust all over the valve and he was pretty sure the little dust devils and turned it off when you started using it on them. He switched it on and ran after you, his celestial powers ensuring it would reach to where he needed it. He rounded the corner to see you being dragged down into another giant hill. They had managed to get you in waist deep but you hand a death grip around a tree stump that kept you above ground, despite all the creatures biting at your fingers trying to make you let go. Gabriel turned the hose toward them first. They turned into muddy sludge as the water hit them and within a few moments he was able to wipe out the entire army.

You crawled out of the pit and took the hose from your archangel and put the nozzle at the opening of the pit. This way the tunnels would be flooded and you would be able to get rid of all the nuisances for good.

"At least now you know how to deal with them next time," Gabriel said with an uneasy laugh. You turned around completely unamused. You were covered in dirt from head to toe and your hair was matted and wild. Your skin was covered in hundreds of teeth marks but the worst of them were on your hands where the bites were so deep they actually bled. You raised an eyebrow at Gabriel, signaling just how much trouble he was in.

"I'm sorry," he apologized. He took your hands and rubbed the wounds away. "Really I am." He kissed your forehead and all the marks down to your neck healed instantly. He ran his hands through your hair, leaving it soft and clean.

You looked up at him and he smiled back. "I love you." You tried to stay mad but couldn't help but laugh at the whole ridiculous situation.

"You owe me a basket of fries," you said.

"Sure thing madam." You turned to return to your car but stopped when something shiny caught your eye. In the now flooded gnome hill several golden coins were floating in the water along with a box. You picked it up, while Gabriel fished out the coins, and opened it to find it filled with extravagant jewelry. You pulled out a string of pearl necklaces and looked at Gabriel with wide eyes.

"I guess the lore wasn't wrong when it said they liked treasure."

"Looks like someone can quit their day job."

"Maybe...but you're still paying for my fries."
