"Do you think they have chipotle nearby?" Dylan whined,
We were all seated on the uncomfortable hospital chairs for the whole night.
"Dude chill with the chips, yeah?" Liam tossed Dylan a packet with Hayley trailing behind him.
She was being surprisingly nice to us, updating us whenever she could since nobody else in his damn place gave a shit about us.
Hayley and Liam chatted away, taking a seat beside Chase, Mia, Megan, Noah, Dylan and Kyle.
I paced around the hallway as I rang Logan's phone number for the hundredth time today,
He needed to know what was happening.
"He's not going to pick up" Vicky told me as she came towards us from the elevator with Val, Kasey, Ethan, Grayson and Will trailing behind her.
Noah had called them a few hours ago, early this morning.
"If we had a dollar each time we tried we'd be millionaires," Ethan muttered,
"And if we gave away every dollar each time we called after then we'd be broke all over again" Grayson rolled his eyes.
I sat down into a seat with a sigh, sinking deeper with every second as the stress of the situation weighed down on my shoulders, my left leg bouncing up and down anxiously.
A doctor came walking towards Beth's room and Hayley nodded towards us before walking up to speak with the doctor.
She came back a few moments later,
"They're waiting to hear back from her legal guardian before they take anymore action",
Noah snorted, "Good luck with that",
"What's that supposed to mean?" Hayley asked with her eyebrows furrowed.
If only she knew.
"What action?" I swiftly changed the subject,
"They want permission to perform the surgery on Beth, the only thing keeping her alive right now is life support and if they need to know whether her guardian wants to go through with the surgery or pull the plug on the life support... She needs a heart transplant".
The weight of Hayley's words weighed down on us as we contemplated in silence.
"Don't you need a donor?" Kyle asked,
"We have one but we need to act fast" Hayley replied quickly,
"And her chance of surviving this?" Chase questioned,
"...Low" she replied after a few moments.
Fuck.
"I'll leave you to think" Hayley muttered before walking off.
Before she left however, Liam caught her wrist, "Stay with us. Please " he whispered to her and she nodded slowly.
"What do we do?" Valentino asked Noah cautiously,
"I don't know" he replied,
"We'll do it," I muttered and everyone's eyes snapped towards me,
"We'll go through with it," I repeated, this time louder so I could be heard, "It's the transplant or life support and we can't keep her on that forever".
My heart was beating erratically in my chest and I had no idea if this was the right decision,
Everyone was silent as the minutes ticked by, all of them mulling over the idea. As each minute passed I felt the pressure weigh down on me, it was my idea and if Beth's transplant didn't work out the way I thought it would...
