This story was one of the first stories I wanted to write when I came up with the idea for Godzilla Warriors. At the time, Jurassic World had just come out, and after seeing some human versions of the Raptor Squad and Indominus, I had to add them to the series.
Even though I wanted to do less crossovers as the series continued, I kept this one because I couldn't think of a better way to introduce Shin Godzilla, who I wanted to add as soon as he was announced.
The nod to Captain America Civil War at the beginning was a bit late, since Civil War came out in the Summer and this story came out in the Winter. Also I may write a Civil War style Godzilla Warriors spinoff in the future, but probably not.
Originally I wanted to use this story to add more comedy to the series, but by the end I decided to go with my usual writing style.
The original title for the book was Project Gijinka, which was the project the raptors and Indominus were created for. But I thought Extinction not only sounded cooler, but also tied into the Jurassic World part a bit more.
While Gojira won't return in the next book, I expect him to make a return by book 10.
