Chapter 23

~Marcus POV~

It has been a week since I started ignoring Maya and after a few days she gave up on trying to talk to me and I don't blame her. I started hanging out with Ashley and let me tell you I hate it, it is so different from being with Maya, I can't believe I once had a crush on her. When I see Maya around school I see her with a smile on her face but I can tell it is a fake smile, I can see her hurting inside and it pains me cause I know it's my fault.

After the school day finished I walked outside to go home and I saw her talking to Ryder, the guy that beat me up last week. I saw Maya laugh at something he said and jealousy coursed through me. I walked past them making sure she would see me and I walked to Maya's house and waited for her, I don't care about this person anymore I just want to be with Maya. I saw her walk up to the house and I told her everything about me ignoring her

Marcus- I'm so sorry Maya I didn't want to ignore you I was getting texts from this unknown person and they said if I went near you they would hurt both of us but mainly you and I didn't want that but now I don't care I just want to be with and I will protect you.

Maya just stood there staring at me I don't think she knew what to do and I didn't know what to do. We stood there staring for a few minutes until she came running up to me and wrapped her arms around my neck and my hands grabbed her waist, we stood there hugging for a few minutes until we decided to let go. When we let go my phone buzzed in my pocket and it was another text from unknown

Unknown: Marcus...Marcus...Marcus. Why did you do that? You know the consequences and if she ends up dead just remember it was all your fault.

Marcus: I will protect Maya at all costs.

Unknown: You could have protected her by not speaking to her but you just out her endanger.

I put my phone back into my pocket and gave Maya another and reassured her that everything will be okay and I will always protect her.
