"There we got the builders. They're very good with their hands, but not a lot going on upstairs", I say, pointing towards them.

"And then we got Winston, he's the Keeper of the Slicers", Newt says.

"And we got two med-jacks, Clint and Jeff", I say, as they pass us.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Yo, Bella. Yo, Newt."

"They spend most of their time bandaging up the slicers", Newt adds.

"What if I want to be a runner", He says.

Newt glances at me, as my eyes widen.

Newt looks back at him, chuckling.

"Have you listened to a word I've just said? No one wants to be a runner. And besides, you gotta get chosen."

"Chosen by who?"

Newt grabs my hands, pulling me aside, as Gally pushes the other guy out of the circle and into the greenie.

"Whoa!"

Thomas straightens his shirt, when Gally speaks.

"What do you say, Greenie? Wanna see what you're made of?"

"Greenie. Greenie. Greenie", Everyone starts to chant, as he glances at me. I nod, and he sighs.

They all cheer, before he steps into the circle.

"Okay. All right. The rules are simple, Greenie. I try to push you out of the circle, you try to last more than five seconds", Gally says.

Everyone laughs, and I cross my arms over my chest.

"Take it easy on the Greenie, Gally."

"Ready?"

He nods, and Gally instantly pushes him roughly, but the other guys push him back in, and he hits the ground.

"Get up, boy."

"Come on, Greenie. We're not done yet", Gally says.

He stands up, dusting the sand off himself.

"Stop calling me Greenie."

"Stop calling you that? What do you wanna be called? Shank?"

The boys all laugh and cheer, but I stay quiet.

"What do you think, boys? Does he look like a Shank?"

He runs towards him, but Gally easily holds him back.

He gets thrown back onto the ground, before he slowly stands back up.

"You know what? I think I've settled on shank", Gally says.

The boys laugh again, before he swiftly runs towards Gally, grabbing him by the stomach and pushing him back, making him hit the ground.

"There you go, Greenie", I cheer.

"Not bad for a Greenie, huh?"

Gally quickly knocks Thomas out from under his feet, making him hit the ground. His head hits the ground with a thump, making him wince.

His head slowly lifts up, like he remembers something.

He quickly stands up, speaking.

"Thomas. Hey! Thomas! I remember my name! I'm Thomas", He says, laughing a bit.

"Yeah, Thomas", I cheer, making everyone else cheer to.

Everyone joins in, cheering for him.

"Welcome home, Thomas", I smile.

We all laugh, cheering, as he downs the liquid in the mason jar, before spitting it out in the sky.

"Good job.... Thomas", Gally says, shaking his hand, making me smile.

There's a distant roaring of a griever, making me grab Newt's hand.

"What the hell was that?"

"That, my friend, was a griever. Don't worry, you're safe here with us. Nothing gets through those walls."

"All right, guys. Let's tuck it in for the night. Come on. It was a good night."

We all slowly start to walk back to where we sleep, and I slowly let go of Newt's hand.

"Want me to walk you to bed?"

I slowly nod, before he wraps his arm around my waist.

We walk towards the homestead, which is where I sleep, in silence.

"Tonight was a good night", Newt sighs.

"It was...", I nod, agreeing.

"So, you really don't like Thomas?"

"Not like that, no."

"Why won't you tell me who you do like?"

"Cause... it doesn't matter. He's never gonna love me like that, anyways", I sigh, before standing on my tippy toes and kissing Newt's cheek softly. "Good night, Newt."

"Good night, my princess..."

I smile, before disappearing into the homestead.
