Alkira's pov-

'Slow down.' I groaned and sit up. Someone was knocking very violently on my door.

I got up and opened it.

Ana was standing there and from the look of her ashen face, my sleep-ridden mind started to come around.

"What happened?"

She took a deep breath and spoke very quickly.

"Xavier came back half an hour ago. He was a bloody mess and he was not alone. Right now, he is in the hospital, in the same room where doctors are treating the stranger. He told me to get you very fast. So, let's go."

She took my hand and started dragging me with her.

I was still trying to understand what she said and as everything registered in my mind I quickened my pace.

"I am coming with you."

I looked over my shoulder and saw that Keith was right behind us.

Looks like this ruckus woke him too.

"Sorry to ruin your sleep. I was a bit loud." Ana said sheepishly.

"It's okay, I am a light sleeper. I hope that I am not intruding." He said while scratching the back of his neck.

I shook my head and reached for his hand. Taking it I laced my fingers with his and squeezed gently.

The smile that graced his lips was so sincere that it melted my heart.

We kept walking and quickly reached the building.

After we went inside, I felt a slight shift in the atmosphere. Sniffing the air, I felt my body go rigid. Stopping beside me, Keith asked if I was okay.

But I couldn't say anything, not even nod my head. A sense of foreboding gripped my heart. Clutching and squeezing it. Something was wrong. Just like that I came out of my vegetable state and sprang into action.

My feet started moving, following blindly the pull that tugged my heart.

A turn here and then there, moving like I was on auto-pilot mode.

I felt like my destination was set, along with which path to follow.

"Kira, where are you going?" Keith asked confused not knowing what was happening.

"I don't know. My feet are not listening to me." I replied just as flabbergasted as I felt.

"She is going towards the room where the patient is kept that Xavier brought along," Ana shouted as she was the one left behind.

It was then I noticed that I was full-fledged running.

"How did she know where that is? Keith asked in a rush to keep up with me.

"I don't! But apparently, my feet do."

Saying that I burst inside the room and just for a second everybody turned toward me before they resumed their work.

By their work I meant the doctor checking the patient and Xavier...

Well with a few measured strides, he was in front of me, hugging me and murmuring how i have to do something... how he can't lose him.

With a loud growl, Xavier was pulled away from me and thrown against the wall.

I was buried in the all too relaxing warmth of my mate when a pain-stricken groan pierced the atmosphere. I turned in his arms and looked at the bed. My body went limp when I saw who was lying there...

"Kira! Are you okay?"

He asked concerned about my jello state.

He held me in his arms knowing that if he let go I would be lying there in a heap of tangled mess.

"My brother."

My voice came out too low... barely audible even to my own ears.

"What are you saying? Do you know him?" Keith sounded more worried but I couldn't do anything to alleviate that.

"My brother," I said a little louder this time.

"Brother!" Xavier shouted from where he was lying on the floor.

Slowly I moved towards the bed with Keith's arm secured around my shoulder.

I was glad for that support. I needed it.

I stood there staring at the unconscious form of my brother.

All memories of our childhood rushed back to me.

How we played in the yard... my brothers chasing after me...domi scolding Sean for teaching me how to climb trees... Their arguments over the last piece of chocolate cake... me sneaking behind their backs to go out on a run with Jamie...

Domi always looked out for me no matter what. He was the one who backed me up in all my schemes. He tended to my wounds taking care of me afterward, never leaving my side. Not even once.

Now seeing him like this without his happy-go-lucky smile... in all bones and no meat state... with so much white covering his body...

It hurts... so much Dammit!

But not for long...

Not if I could help it...

Determined, I took hold of his hand and closed my eyes... summoning my newfound powers to heal him.

I played no heed to the increasing headache. I was still recovering from last night's fiasco and knew that it will take a toll on my body.

But I ignored it.

What mattered right now was my brother, not me.

So I focused on him... looking deeper into the injuries... broken ribs... twisted ankle... concussion... shattered fingers... swollen face... relocated jaw. tears welled up in my eyes but I did not let them fall. It was not the time to cry. I will definitely not spare a single wolf who participated in torturing my brother. I swore in my heart, I will make every single of them pay. Time was of the essence, I snapped my attention back to the present moment.

I couldn't do anything about his malnourished body that will recover with time. Proper meals at the appropriate time are the key along with my special medicine. He will recover in no time.

I fixed what was broken that could be healed and not hurt afterward. It drained me bit by bit. But I do not mind the loss of energy. If possible I wanted to transfer all his injuries to my body. Since I cannot do that I settled with the next best thing.

With the last of my quickly decreasing strength, I opened my eyes and looked at him.

He looked a little better.

Good.

"Let me rest by his side."

I whispered with all of the strength I could muster. When the last of my consciousness escaped I only felt the warmth of my mate and then nothing but darkness.
