Danika's POV
The stress sure does get to you on game day. Not that it doesn't on any other game day. It's just that this game day was our last game here at the Games. I've met so many different people and it's awesome but sad to see them leave. That's what sucks about meeting new people in new places, you see them once and then they disappear forever. I wish it didn't have to be that way, but it is.
I watched the boys fool around as they were half dressed in their gear. I rolled my eyes as I shook my head with a smile plastered to my face. I am going to miss this team, but hey, that doesn't mean that I can't get their emails or numbers. I might or I might not, they're pretty goofy and have their own spectacular lives to return to. Shelby was across the room laughing at something Kyler had said. Toria was too busy talking to Jayden and Riley, whereas I was somewhat listening to Cameron.
"Let's go, Team! You got five minutes before you need to be at the bench ready to play!" Coach Mercier called, looking at his clipboard before walking over to the food table where Miss Brantford was. She smiled and they spoke while the rest of us returned to getting dressed.
"I didn't even start getting dressed yet," Cameron said, panicking as he looked around for his stuff.
"Maybe it's a sign, Cam," I spoke up, shaking my head with the same smile.
"For what?" He asked me.
I shrugged my shoulders. "That you should shut up, stop fooling around, and get dressed,"
He pushed my shoulder and I bumped in to Finn, who was standing on the other side of me. I stood up grabbing my water bottle, my gloves, helmet, and stick and then walked over to Toria. She was dressed and seemed like she was ready to leave, so I followed her over to Shelby now, who was looking around for something. "Hey, have you two seen my water bottle?"
Toria and I exchanged looks, and then returned our glance at her, shaking our heads. I ponder and look around her locker, to see if she had misplaced it. When I didn't see it, but noticed Liam next to her, chugging down water from a bottle. I winced and looked at the bottle a little closer. He was drinking from her bottle. "Hey," I spoke up.
Shelby whips around, and I nod towards Liam. She turns and looks at it, shaking her head as she sighed. "Liam, that's my water bottle,"
He stopped what he was doing and brought the bottle down, looking at it. "Oh, it is. Here," He said, tossing her the empty bottle. We waited by the door while she refilled her bottle. Once finished, we headed out on to the ice followed by the rest of the team.
Arriving at our bench, minutes later, we all gathered around the bench. Whether we stood on the ice or in the box, we all huddled in a group. Wrapping our arms around one another's shoulders. "All right, this is what we've been waiting for. We've worked hard and played well, we'll go out there today with smiles on our faces. We'll do our best and show the world what we're made of. But most of all, let's have fun on the ice. It's our last game together," Coach spoke and smiled.
I looked side to side at the others and smiled, seeing that they were all smiling. "Let's go!"
"Gooo Canada!" We all called.
After two national anthems, being lined up on the ice in our teams, we officially started the game. Coach had put out Daniel, Luke, Cameron, Finn, Bryce, and Jayden. The rest of us took our seats on the bench and waited for the others to get into their positions. We had cheered on the boys and told them no pressure, it was funny to see their reaction when we told them that.
Good afternoon folks! I can't believe it's the last game of the Junior games! Team Canada led by Coach Mercier is here this afternoon and Team USA led by Coach Bombay is also here. Last time these two teams had met, a fight broke out, Canada lost a player, and USA won by two goals. The steaks are high for this game, especially since these are our two most competitive teams yet! Canada's been practicing really hard and I can't wait to see what they'll bring us tonight. USA's been on a winning streak for games, let's see if they can keep it that way.... Staring face off is Bryce LaFoy from Team Canada and Lester Averman from Team USA.
