Fortunate

Sometimes I wish I were the water that gets lucky enough every day to brush your skin.
How beautiful you are,
Standing there,
Eyes closed.
Stuck in your own version of peace that can only be found behind the constraints of your eyelids.

Sometimes I wish I were the clothes that get fortunate enough to caress your body.
The fabric fitting perfectly to
you like a puzzle piece you weren't sure
you were missing.

What I wouldn't give to be the stars in the sky that get blessed enough to be wished upon by you.
To see your hopeful eyes shining bright,
Your head turned to the inky blackness
of the onyx infinity,
and you'd smile this sad little number
because you know I'm all you have left.
I want to be the thing you come to when you're all out of hope and all you have is a slim and shimmering chance that maybe I'll be the one this time.

How much I would give away to be lucky enough to be the life that is charming enough to be lived by you.
I'd be the thing you put all of your dreams and aspirations and hopes into,
And you'd never give up on me,
Even when everyone around you tells you you should.
I'd be your home and your safety and your heart,
And I'd be yours.

How much I would give to be yours.
