~Scarlett~

Everyone was back in Hogwarts by the time the new year had started. Classes began the following day, and I was still furious with my mother.

January faded into February, and I had still yet to be in a good mood.

I hadn't spoken a word about what I heard to anyone since I confronted my mother.

George was pushing me to go talk to her, but he doesn't know why I'm avoiding her, so I don't think his opinion matters. However, on the morning of the game against Ravenclaw, I found myself wondering down the corridor to Mum's office, and right through her door.

"Scarlett! Thank Merlin!" Mum breathed, jumping up from her chair immediately.
"I want an explanation," I stated, sitting across from her and folding my arms over my chest.

Mum looked like she wanted to laugh at me, but bit her tongue and nodded.

"Tell me what you know and how you found out and I'll go from there," Mum said.
"I overheard Professors McGonagall, Flitwick, and Hagrid talking with the Minister –Cornelius Fudge – and Madam Rosmerta," I stated.
"Where?" Mum questioned.
"The Three Broomsticks. They were talking about Black and how he was close with Harry's dad. Madam Rosmerta said Black–"
"Could you please not call him Black like that?" Mum asked, pain evident on her face by the hatred I used in saying the name.
"What? Would you rather I call him dad? Because if you bloody think I'm going to call that monster my dad then you are mistaken," I spat.

Mum nodded slightly, the pain increasing.

"Madam Rosmerta mentioned how Black was with you a lot, and they started talking about your relation to him. How you're still married to the prick," I seethed.
"I'm still married to him because he's not a prick or a monster. Do you really think I'd marry someone I didn't know one hundred percent was on my side?" Mum asked, her eyes glossed with despair.
"I don't know what to think anymore Mum. You married Sirius bloody Black. You had a kid with him. Me! That thought disgusts me! That I am the daughter of a man who killed innocent people! That I am the daughter of a man who betrayed his closest friends!" I exclaimed, rage filling me.
"He di-"
"No, Mum. You don't get to speak. You kept this from me my whole life, and now you're being a bloody idiot trying to defend someone so cruel," I spat, standing up from where I sat.
"Scarlett you don't kno-"
"Oh so there's more things you're keeping from me? Well I don't care anymore, Mum! I don't want to know about your sick life," I snarled, storming out of the room.

~Claire~

"You're her mother, Claire. You shouldn't let her talk to you like that," Remus sighed, coming in from the next room.
"No. She has every right to react like that," I stated, looking down at my hands.
"But she doesn't have to speak to you like that," Remus said, sitting down next to me.
"Just, put yourself in her shoes, Remus. Can you just imagine what it'd be like finding out your father is a supposed mass murderer, and that your mother has been hiding it from you for twelve years?" I breathed, looking up at him.
"No, but Cla-"
"I don't care how she reacted, Remus. I just want my daughter to know I'm not a crazy-"
"But you are crazy! You are crazy, Claire! Who in their right mind would defend Sirius Black?!" Remus snapped.
