Chapter 29

Hey.

I haven't really written anything for a while. (I even reread my last addition just to remember the kinds of things I put here.) Funny, how things have changed in the span of two or three weeks, though. The last time I wrote, I was ranting about how I hated pageants and how uninteresting it felt to be a part of one. Now... I'm actually pumped and ready for what they're about to throw at me.

Well, the first one was surely a miss. But the second one? Zeke and I crushed it! (Yeah, I do seem excited, don't I?)

I guess, sometimes you really don't know the outcome. We win some, we lose some, but how are we supposed to know?

Anyway, I'm glad I got to write again - even if it's short. I missed this.

(Cue sappy music)

I closed my "thought journal" as I laid back on my mattress. I hid the green notebook somewhere only I knew of and breathed in. The excitement from winning the other day wore off once I hit the hay and remembered the next event on my now busy calendar.

Sunday: Andrew and I's redo (nondate) date.

At first, I panicked and resorted to eating as a way to relieve stress. After that, I took a long shower to clear my head. For a while, it worked. That is, up until now - the morning before the actual date. Well, nondate, but that's beside the point!

Drew said our nondate would start at ten. A little bright and early for me, but who was I to complain? He called and told me that I should wear something comfortable, nothing that'd induce my feet too much pain - I didn't mind. I was thinking that maybe our nondate would be somewhat outdoors-y. Maybe a stroll in the park, accompanied by frozen desserts. Maybe a picnic? I'm not entirely sure, but we'll see.

My stomach started grumbling, so I trudge over downstairs, to the fridge. I opened the fridge door, looked in, closed it, and opened it again. I repeated that for about five times. Sometimes, even though there's tons of food options to choose from, I still feel as if I have nothing to eat. Am I the only one who does that? Anyway, I ended up grabbing a can of Sprite and a small bowl of chocolate pudding, the one Mom made last night.

So far, the house seemed...complete. Dad's in his office, working away. Mom is out in the living room watching Pretty Little Liars reruns. I'd watch it with her, but my eyelids seem to be really heavy today. And Penny, she's actually not with Ryan. She's hauled herself in her bedroom, only leaving to eat - an insufficient amount at that. I like how it feels, knowing that your whole family is under one roof. It makes me feel lucky; like I have all I need. I mean, technichally, that's not exactly accurate, but in a way, I'm right.

Well, time to pick an outfit.

Ten minutes in and I was already calling Penelope.

Dammit, Eli.

"Penny! Penny, c'mere I need help with something," I yell repeatedly as I study each piece of clothing that I owned. "Please hurry up!"

I heard her exaggerated sigh and smiled to myself. "I heard you the first time, woman! Calm the hell down, will yah?"

I plopped down on one of my beanbags, waiting for my twin's arrival. I was casually humming to myself when Pen stepped inside my catastrophic room. The way her face scrunched up, you'd think I told her that I liked eating other people's vomit. I don't, by the way.

"What's the sitch?" she asked, quoting Kim Possible.

"Wardrobe malfunction..." I mumble quietly, almost incoherently. God, why was I so desperate to impress Andrew anyway? It's not like this nondate counts as anything. I heaved a sigh.

Penny squeals, hugging me like a proper welcome committee group member. "You ARE my twin!"

I laughed at her eagerness. "Can we get to it now? Please, Penny?"

She nodded. "Okay, can you tell me what you would most likely be doing?" Penny's ebony irises eyed me relentlessly, as if searching for the truth.

"Just going outdoors and stuff, so something comfy and still presentable, I guess" I replied, inspecting my nails as to not look at Penny.

"If it's just comfy clothing, you'd know all about it... This isn't just a normal Charlie-infested trip. It's a date, isn't it?" she paused with a sly grin, "Tell me I'm wrong, Elouise."

"You're W-R-O-N-G, Penelope. Its actually a nondate," I uttered in a matter-of-factly tone. I felt triumphant, in a way, but still kinda sorry for myself. "It probably doesn't even matter..."

Penny gave me a weird look and, in a condesending way, she said, "Well then, we better make this count."

Holla! :)

Sorry to cut it short. It's sort of a filler, but I really wanted to write Eli and Drew's "nondate" on a separate chapter. Please bear with me.

We've reached 20,000 reads! Thank you so much for your help, this is all very exciting for me! Next goal is 21K, let's do this!
