Chapter Four

It was third week of school and not much has happened except a certain bully squishing my lunch like every single day. I'm kinda used to it by now. PJ kinda ignored me after the 'incident' but soon was bullying me again.

Some things never change.

I walk into my math class and sit at my desk, ignoring the harsh glares from PJ at the other side of the room.

When the bell rang the teacher started passing back our graded tests from the week before. It was our first official test of the year. It was so easy.

The teacher nodded her head approvingly at me when she handed me my test. A big red 100 was at the top next to my name. I smiled.

I glanced over to PJ when he got his test. He stared at it blankly with his head in his hands. Soon he shoved it in his backpack and ignores the question from Undyne on what he got.

I turn around to whisper to Alphys. "What did you get?" I ask. Alphys smiled as she held up her test. A 90% was scribbled in red ink.

"I-I only m-missed one q-question. I forgot w-what the formula f-for density w-was..." Alphys stuttered. I smiled at her. I was going to say something else but the teacher soon started talking again.

*Time Skip To After School*

"H-Hey F-Fresh do y-you w-wanna g-go to watch t-the basketball practice w-with me?" Alphys asked as I locked my locker. I shifted my book bag on my shoulder.

"Why?" I asked. Alphys looked at her feet.

"Well I-I wanted to watch U-U-Undyne..."

I sighed. I did not want to go to the empty abyss I called home... but I don't want to run into jocks... and Alphys is my best friend...

"Sure I'll go with you." I smiled at her. She smiled back happily as we walked towards the gym.

When we opened the doors to the gym we sat in the corner. I took out my math textbook and started on tonight's homework.

*PJ POV*

I felt the ball fumble in my hands again as I dribbled it down the court. When I shot it, the ball missed the net. I was not focused at all.

All I could think about was that stupid 60% on my math test. Both of my dads are gonna kill me.

My dad Error always says to me that I can't be on the team with non-passing grades. My other dad Ink always wants me to make at least a 75%.

"PJ look out!" I hear someone call. I turn around and quickly caught the ball, barely missing my head.

"WaTeR bReAk!" My dad tells everyone. I shake my head and sip some water from my water bottle. BP comes up to me.

"Dude you seem really out of it today. Are you okay?" He asks. I shake my head.

"Yea just tired." I say. BP shrugs and runs off again. I sigh.

*Fresh POV*

As I finish my really easy math and science homework basketball practice was still going on. I sat back in my seat and look at the squeaky gym floor.

I find PJ standing by the sidelines all by himself. He looks so lost in his thoughts. Someone throws him a ball and he catches it before it hits him. He has good reflexes.

Soon practice ends and Undyne waves at Alphys when none of her friends are looking. Alphys blushes, giggles, and waves back. I wiggle my non-existing eyebrows at Alphys and her face grows even more red.

I glance down at the court again to find PJ staring at me. We make eye contact for a split second before both of us turn away.

Why was he staring at me?

*PJ POV*

After practice ends I see Undyne wave to someone. I look up into the stands to find Undyne's crush, I think her name was Alpha or Alphs or something like that, and I see the other nerd. The nerd who always lets his lunch get smashed by my feet.

Why do I even do that? I've seen him at lunch and all he does is sit there and pout. Why doesn't he fight back to actually have a lunch at lunchtime?

I take the edge of my shirt and bring it up to my forehead, wiping off the sweat. I glance up at the nerd again and this time we make eye contact. I break it quickly.

Why is he even here?

He hates us jocks so why would he come to a practice? Probably because of Undyne's crush. They are best friends and all.

I grabbed my gym bag and walked over to BP and Undyne.

"Coach Error said we have practice tomorrow and Thursday. He said Friday is our first game." Undyne explained. I nodded.

We said our goodbyes as BP and Undyne leave. I walk up to my dad.

"Pj InK aNd I nEeD tO sTaY lAtE tO dO sOmE pApErWoRk So YoU eItHeR wAiT fOr Us To DrIvE yOu HoMe Or YoU cAn WaLk. YoUr ChOiCe." Dad said. I thought about the math and science homework I needed to do and I decided to walk home so I could study at home in peace and quiet.

I walk out of the gym to hear two people talking. I glance to my left to see the nerd saying bye to Alphys. I quickly pass them without drawing attention and walk out the school doors into the late evening air.

I sighed as I began walking home. This was probably gonna take a while.
