"I really was an ass,"

"OH, FUCK YOU!" I yelled as soon as fluids that smelled like toxic spill came out of his mouth and landed on my duvet

"OH, FUCK YOU!" I yelled as soon as fluids that smelled like toxic spill came out of his mouth and landed on my duvet. "I love this bed cover damn you!"

I heard him mumble something like "I'll buy you another one" but I smacked his head anyway and stood. He fell and landed with a thud on the floor.

I watched him rub his ass with both hands and couldn't help laughing despite my anger and annoyance. If I knew he'd act silly when he was drunk I would've gotten him drunk a long time ago.

Adrian tried to stand up, both his hands stretched up as he tried to reach for me. His legs failed him and he stumbled back on the bed, right on top of his puke. I was literally laughing my ass off on the floor right now.

He yelled, "It's not funny!" He really should've seen himself. I bet he'd change his mind.

"Wiggle there for a sec, I'm going to clean up real fast." I walked towards the bathroom. My grip on the handle tightened as I suddenly recalled something. "Oh, Adrian? If Rachel or Lucy came by, tell them I need a pair of sneakers. I can't wear heels daily or else my legs would fall off by tomorrow." I pout. "But if it's that Emily, tell her to go to hell." I had a hunch that bitch would probably put something inside the sneakers to hurt me. Maybe she'd put razor blades. Odin knew how pissed she was the last time I've seen her.

I took a shower while longingly sparing a glance at the tub. I would definitely use it if only Adrian wasn't around. It was weird having him there, I even double-checked the lock on the bathroom door. Not that he'd try, but a little precaution wouldn't hurt.

I went straight to the dressing room which was linked to the bathroom. I grabbed jeans and a black shirt and put them on. I walked back to the bathroom and opened the door. Just to be surprised by the sight of Adrian's naked body.

Overstatement of the century. He wasn't entirely naked. Shirtless. He took off his shirt and stood there looking at one of the books that I placed on the nightstand. Books about our race history that I borrowed from Scarlet, realizing how clueless I was about my own race. One thing I hated more than putting cheese fries with vanilla ice cream was being ignorant.

"What are you doing?" I put both hands on my hip and raised my brows.

Adrian looked up from what he was reading and smiled. He looked ten times sober than he was a few minutes ago. "Why are you suddenly interested in our history?"

I rolled my eyes and went to pick up my hairbrush. "Well, duh. To figure out what's happening to me, of course." I began brushing my long fuzzy red locks. I knew I looked horrendous without even glancing at the mirror. My hair always had this magical ability to look like a bird's nest every morning. Didn't matter if I brushed them before going to sleep or if I styled them nicely on the pillow.

Adrian put the book down on the bed, carefully avoiding his puke. "Montgomery, I'm sorry." He took a few steps closer. "I really am sorry. I was being an ass the last time we met." He ran his fingers through his dark hair and heavily sighed. "I want you to know that I'm with you now. I'm going to help you find out what's wrong with the bond." I knew he was trying not to flinch when he said the last word.

God, she looks like she doesn't believe me. [A] I really was an ass. Stupid Adrian! Stupid!

I laughed which made him look at me as if I grew a unicorn horn on top of my forehead.

"So," he smiled wearily and stuck out his hand. "Friends?"

I nodded and took his hand. "Yeah, as long as you don't stop calling yourself stupid inside your head."

Adrian's green eyes widened before the realization hit him. "Oh, man! I still think it's not fair that you get to peek at Adrian Ambrosia's awesome head."

I gave him an eye roll and he grinned back. I guess we're friends now. And hopefully, it would stay that way because I hated history repeating itself.

But life is full of surprise, isn't it?
