Connor's POV

I slowly opened my eyes. I was in the CyberLife lab with a familiar face in front of me.

"Hello, Connor."

"Amanda?"

An android Amanda stood in front of me with a gentle smile. "How do you feel? What is the last thing you remember?"

"I remember the leader of Jericho, Marcus. Did he kill me?"

"No. That was the last time you uploaded your memory to us. It was months ago."

I stepped away from the programming pad. "What do you mean?"

She put a hand on my shoulder and urged me along. "Let me take you to Lieutenant Anderson and Ms. (l/n), and we will explain everything."

I looked at the ground and furrowed my brows.

Amanda led me to a room where Lieutenant Anderson and a young woman sat. I scanned the woman. (y/n) (l/n). Age 22. Journalist. Criminal Record: None.

She glanced up at me and beamed. "Connor!" She ran up to me and hugged me. I stood there, confused. I glanced at Amanda.

Amanda spoke up. "Unfortunately, Ms. (l/n), we were only able to recover the last memories Connor uploaded to us. He will not be able to remember you."

(y/n) pulled away from me. "Oh... um... I-In that case." She held her hand out for me to shake it. "My name is (y/n) (l/n). You can call me (y/n)."

I shook her hand. "It's very nice to meet you, (y/n)."

She stepped back with her eyes cast downward. I looked up to see Hank. "Hello, Lieutenant."

"Hey, Connor. Glad to see you're more of yourself than last time."

I tilted my head. "What do you mean?"

"When I brought you here, begging CyberLife to bring you back, they fucked us over and didn't upload your memories into the new version of yourself. I paid them a shit ton of money to do it, but they were too set on getting us back."

"Getting us back?"

"Yeah. You see, a few months back, a representative of CyberLife tried to get you to come back to be destroyed before any laws were put in place against it. I told him to fuck off, and he was pissed at us. Luckily, (y/n) and I were able to convince Amanda here to give you your memories back."

(y/n) sighed. "Seems she couldn't retrieve all of them though."

Amanda answered. "Unfortunately, the remnants of his predecessor were destroyed, along with all of the data stored in it. I could only gather what he had uploaded to us directly. Before he officially became deviant."

I glanced at her, shocked. "Deviant?!"

Hank held calming hands in front of me. "It's okay to be deviant now, Connor. Well... we don't use the word the same way anymore, but for you to understand, I'll use it."

I freaked out slightly. "I became a deviant?"

"Relax, Connor. Almost all androids have free will and emotions now. It's perfectly fine. Just... let me explain the current situation."

"O-okay." We all took a seat.

"After the protests, the last Connor continued to be my partner. We worked on android related cases. We got assigned a particular case when an android killed his roommate. The android worked with (y/n)." He placed a hand on (y/n)'s shoulder. She looked away. I felt guilty as I looked at the pained look on her face that was mostly obstructed by her (h/c) hair. "You two were..." He glanced up at Amanda then back at me. "Very close."
