CHAPTER 12

I'm sitting at my study table, fiddling with my hair anxiously, my head buried in my physics text book .

It's 7 in the morning and today is my physics exam.

The days have passed quickly and it's been a month since school started.

Iniya enters the room, obviously unaware of my anxiety, wiping her eyes off sleep. She's looking ...........hilarious.

"Hey! Won't you wish me?" she asks me.

It's her birthday today.

"I was your first wish!" I exclaim, while posting the picture that I had taken just nowwishing her 'Happy Birthday Cutie' , in Whatsapp.

I wished her exactly at 12 in the midnight and she said 'thank you', groggily through her sleep.

Again she's clueless about both of it.

"Anyways, happy birthday once again" I wish, bumping her on the back.

"What was that for?" she yelps.

"Birthday bump, buddy" I reply cheerfully and once again bury my head in the book.

"How to derive v=u+at, graphically?" I ask Kavi tensely.

We are right now outside the exam hall and I'm doing my freaking last minute study.

"Which formula do we use for this sum?" I hasten.

"Get in! It's time!" the teacher announces.

I take a last glance at the book and place it in my bag stingily.

After wishing everyone good luck, I chant a mantra, mentally, before I step into the hall.

I'm a bit weak in physics, you see.

We are in the canteen, at our usual table.

"How have you done the exam?" Mirni asks. "Not bad" I say.

"Me too" Arjun says and the others nod.

Sibi comes to my side and enquires the same. "Not bad" I reply with a sigh.

"Same here. Anyways the paper was not that tough........." he says.

"Enough of paper discussion" I state disgustedly.

I've done it enough with Mithran in the class to get fairly disappointed.

What is the use in talking over the unpleasant past, anyways?

"However, it's going to be over by tomorrow" Arjun says gleefully.

"Yh!" I reply with a small smile.

"Why is your sister here? Mithran asks suddenly.

"Oh!" I turn back to face her as I say "It's her birthday today"

She waves at us from the entrance. Then heads straight to the counter, supposing to buy candies and comes over to us.

"Hey!" she greets everyone.

Everyone wishes her happy birthday while she distributes them the candies.

They each grab a handful of them, but I notice Mithran pick up only one.
