Sitting next to a bonfire.

That's what it felt like when I woke up and since then it's only gotten worse.

It started the moment I opened my eyes. It felt like I had fallen ill with a fever and I knew deep down that it would only get worse.

Apparently I can tell the future because that's exactly what's happening.

I had Bash's arm draped over my waist and as the seconds passed I could feel myself burning even hotter. I tried my hardest not to wake him but I knew I would eventually have to. I'm too stubborn though, so I didn't wake him until the burning turned into torture.

I decided to sneak out of bed and into the bathroom where I sat on the edge of the bath with my feet in cold water.

What was I thinking? That wasn't going to solve jack shit.

"Sebastian!" I call out once I realize how screwed I am. "Bash!" I scream louder and he finally comes rushing into the room.

"Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" He grabs a towel and runs it under the cold water before wrapping it around my upper body. "Jenifer why didn't you tell me the second this woke you up?"

"Because I wanted to do it on my own. I didn't want to need help." I shudder slightly from the ice cold towel before relaxing into it. "I thought I could do it on my own."

Story of my life.

I once dislocated my shoulder and instead of telling anyone I sat in my room trying to look up ways to pop it back in on my own, but that was partially because of how I managed to dislocate it.

I dislocated it because I fell off my bed. Landed smack on my shoulder and laid on the ground for about an hour before sucking it up and clawing my way up from. Long story short, I fell off my bed while making out with my boyfriend but I quickly told him to leave which he did.

That was warning sign one of how shitty of a guy he was. Warning sign two was not calling to ask if I was okay after the fact. Warning sign three was him sleeping with my best friend.

"No, Jen. You gotta let people help you. Especially when your heat is caused by me not marking you yet." He stops me from further expressing my upset about waking him up as his hand runs up and down my back.

"Logan's getting you some ice, it's gonna be okay." He adds but I shake my head.

"No no I'm fine, I'll be okay. I don't want him seeing me like this. I don't want anyone seeing me like this."

It's weakness and I refuse to let anyone see me weak.

"Holy fuck!" I scream out as another wave of pain cripples my body. "Moon goddess is spiteful to people for not marking each other." I shout while deciding to sit my body in the freezing cold water.

"Do you want me to mark you?" He asks and I shake my head.

I'm not a romantic but I still want to be marked in a more romantic way than sitting in a bathtub. I guess you could say I want to make up for the shitty first time I had.

A drunk nightmare needed a redemption arc and I plan on having one.

"Nobody is marking anybody, especially not when I'm in the room." Logan joins the party and I look up to see him holding a few ice packs. "Please don't mark each other in front of me. I have pure eyes."

"And I've never felt nicer." I roll my eyes before grabbing an ice pack from his hands and cradling it in my arms. "Stop telling lies. One day it's gonna catch up to you."

"I'm gonna assume that this is the heat talking and that you aren't actually that moody."

"No shit Sherlock I'm burning from the inside out and the only way to stop it is to have fangs sink into my neck."

"And we could solve that by having his teeth do the job." Logan points at Bash and I try to silence myself by biting my tongue and clenching my jaw.

"Logan unless you can recall what exactly your cousin went through with her mate, then you are useless right now."

"She eventually passed out from the pain but not before screaming in agony for two hours. Apparently a mates touch helps but we all know what does the job." He smiles while showing his canines.

"Now I need to leave for obvious reasons." Logan backs out of the room as his eyes begin to turn darker and I take a breath of relief knowing he'll leave us alone. "I'm gonna go sleep especially since I have a feeling I won't get any with satan Steph showing up."

"Get in the tub." I grab at Sebastian who looks hesitant to get in the cold water. "Get in you scaredy cat." I repeat and he finally takes a seat behind me before wrapping his arms around my shaking body.

"Your family is coming tomorrow?" I ask once Logan leaves the bathroom. "I love a good heads up."

"No they aren't showing up tomorrow and they shouldn't be for at least another few days. I told them to calm down and to lay off the visits until you were ready."

"I want to hear about your family." I look up at him and he nods.

I need anything to distract me right now.

"I'm the oldest but it was a while before I had any siblings. Ashley was born when I was six and she's pretty tame. She's like any normal teenage sister I assume. She hates anyone telling her what to do and she hates coming over here but my parents force her to sometimes. She's the least likely to show up if I'm being honest." He laughs and I watch as his eyes light up talking about her.

"Then there's Michelle who is pretty much the same as Ashley except two years younger and more into parties. She's the one we worry about the most. She's the Logan of my sisters. She's a massive flirt which has made a bit of a problem because she almost had Garrett wrapped around her pinky and she's way too young."

"Lacey is next. She's apparently known as my favorite but she's simply the nicest out of all my sisters. She doesn't do much but she loves to draw which is why I have an few odd shaped tattoos." He laughs while motioning to a slightly misshapen smiley face. "I let her design me one as part of her tenth birthday present, but the cherub is for too."

"That's my favorite one," I smile while tracing over his arm.

"Lastly is Steph. The six year old who is very loving but doesn't know how to express it correctly. She's taken to Logan pretty well over the past years but if I'm being honest it came as a bit of a worry."

"Why would it be a worry?"

"Because Logan hasn't found his mate yet and we've all heard stories about older wolves finding out there mates are extremely young."

"If that was a case you'd be able to tell right away. There'd be no question about it." I assure him and he nods.

"So thankfully that's not the case and Steph just really likes to bother Logan. Also how we knew Logan was gonna be lonely for way longer than we thought."

"Don't say that about him. He's gonna find her one day. Even if he's a pain in the ass."
