Bash's POV

"Alpha we regret the events of tonight dearly, but please don't feel as if you cannot stay here."

"With all do respect, I'm bringing Jenifer home. I think it's best if me and my pack take some time away from council sanctioned events." I place my sleeping mate into the backseat of the Jeep before gently shutting the door and facing the elders.

"You overstepped tonight and it's unforgivable. You let somebody violate my Luna and the only reason I'm staying calm is because she does not want me retaliating. So please, it's best if we head home."

With that final statement all of the elders leave except one.

"She's a perfect Luna. She maintained more composure than most Alphas would in her position. I'm so sorry for not stepping in and standing for what was right. I apologize Sebastian."

"I appreciate your honest." I nod once more as Logan starts the car and I climb into the back with Jen.

"How many hours?" Logan mumbles while looking at the two of us.

"Just drive Logan."

"Are you gonna explain why I didn't see you tear the neck off of the guy who hurt her?" He asks as I run my hand through Jens hair.

"Because she doesn't need anymore pain. If someone was attacked or punished she would blame herself. Trust me, I'm trying my hardest to keep my calm." I explain and he nods.

The rest of the grueling ride is spent in mostly silence other than the slightly deep breathing coming from Jen every so often.

"I gave Hudson the heads up and he's got the pack doctor ready inside to take a look at her. Garrett has also been briefed and told to keep his mouth shut and to avoid making comments. If you want I can reach out to your mother." Logan opens the door for me and I pat him on the shoulder.

"No need she's already here." I motion to the front window where I can see multiple people gathered.

"I didn't ask for this many people to show up. It was only supposed to be the pack doctor."

"It's because of my father." I shake Jen awake slightly and as she sits up she takes in her surroundings. "Why are so many people home?" She whispers and I help her stand up before keeping my arm wrapped around her.

"Because the council contacted my father so my parents showed up. After that's handled the pack doctor is here to make sure your head is okay."

"Why is this such a big deal? I promise I'll be fine." She continues on towards the door without me and I take a very deep breath.

"Jenifer please can we talk before we go in there?" I ask and she turns to face me before shaking her head and opening the front door. I quickly follow suit but she continues upstairs leaving me with a living room full of confusion.

"Now isn't a good time." I loosen my tie, but they don't care.

"Is she okay?" Hudson asks and I shake my head which causes him to walk upstairs behind Jen.

"I can only imagine what the council said to you over the phone, but what you didn't see are the hand marks on her neck. They overstepped and that's an understatement. I'm not tolerating this behavior. The only reason I'm calm is because she is terrified and won't admit it, so I have to be calm. That council is a disaster and an apology won't make this go away."

"Sebastian that council is the reason we have so many resources. You want to burn that bridge?"

"They smashed her head into a wall repeatedly and asked her about Garrett. They were fishing for information about what business we do. You wanna sit here and tell me that isn't fucked."

"They did what?" He rises to his feet and I nod.

"Yes, they smashed her head into a brick wall when she wouldn't give up information on our relationship and who does my dirty work. He choked her out and could've killed her. You see the problem with that? They would've destroyed this pack with either outcome if Jen didn't have a good head on her shoulders."

"If she gave up Garrett we would be ruined financially and wouldn't be able to fund anything. If she died this pack would've crumbled because my mate would be dead and I'd have no Luna. That council was attempting to ruin our pack."

"You did the right thing Sebastian. I'm sorry for doubting you. As for Jenifer please make sure she is okay and gets anything she needs."

"She's more stubborn than I am. She refuses to admit she's hurt."

"Bring me upstairs to her Alpha Reece. If her head was injured that severely I need to check on her." Piper speaks up and I motion for her to follow me upstairs.

"It's okay. It's gonna be okay." I hear Hudson's voice as the sound of Jenifer throwing up becomes clear.

"Jen baby we need to have the doctor take a look at your head and do some tests."

"I don't want any more attention."

"My parents just left to go home and Logan is downstairs with Garrett. It'll just be Hudson and I."

"Jenifer if they did as much damage as I think they did, you need to let me check." Piper places her bag down and tilts Jens chin up.

"Holy shit- I'm sorry for letting that slip. I'm just surprised he didn't kill you. The bruising and placement wasn't to get information and create fear, it was to injure and lead to death. Do you remember how long it happened for?"

"I'm sorry what were we talking about?" Jen asks and Hudson gives me a confused look which I then give Piper.

"What exactly the man did to you. Can you remember and tell me?"

"Yeah I just need a second."

"Why don't I let you think about it while I talk to Sebastian about what he can do to help the bruising?" Piper grabs my arm and drags me into the hallway.

"Did she pass out from the strangulation? She's showing signs of memory loss."

"No but her head was bashed into a wall multiple times."

"Let her sleep and bring her by the office tomorrow evening. Give her rest and we will resume this tomorrow. Hopefully she is better."
