"oh my god Alyssa whats wrong" Jonah asks me
"Anna has ca-cancer with only 3 weeks left to live"
"im so sorry" he says getting up to hug me
"can you bring me to her house so I can say bye or something"

*time skip to at annas house*
I get out of the car and walk up to her door. Jonah stays in the car because its just a quick thing
I knock on the door and her mom opens the door
"hi" she says
"hi is Anna home I want to hug her"
"did she tell you"
"ye-yeah"
"okay ill go get her"
after a little bit of waiting she comes to the door. I don't say anything instead I just hug her until she cant be hugged anymore
"I-im sorry I didnt tell you sooner" she says crying into my shoulder
"its okay I understand now im so sorry this is happening"
"I never thought it could happen to me... im going to miss you when im gone"
"don't say that but im also going to miss you"
"can you promise me something"
"yes"
"don't miss me too much. don't be sad when I die just know it was meant to happen. even though I wont be here ill always be here in spirit if you need to talk just talk out loud and im sure I will hear. remember me forever and it wouldn't hurt if you named your first child after me. have the best life you can and always keep me in your heart. just know that im going to be watching and if any boy breaks your heart I will make sure something bad happens."

she hands me a necklace with a heart that opens. in the heart theres a picture of us on one side and a note on the other that says 'remember me your best friend' in her super neat handwriting
I cry reading it and give her one more hug
"I love you and I already miss you" I say
"I love you too"
I walk away after giving her another hug knowing it could be my last one ever
I get in the car and we drive away
"are you okay" Jonah asks
" I don't want to talk about it"
"okay I understand"
we get home and I go up to my room
*3 hours later*
"dinners ready" Daniel says smiling walking in my room
I leave my room to go eat
as we're eating it is very silent and I get a text
"can I answer" I ask Jonah
"yes"
I read the text and my heart shatters
