This is really getting out of hand.

Right now, my team and I were back at the castle mountain to talk about what happened at the meeting. As expected, everyone was freaking out.

"Are they seriously trying to summon another hero?!" Olivia exclaimed.

"There's no way that it'll work, right?" Glenn tried to deny it. "The ritual hasn't worked for centuries. There's no way that it'll work now."

"Yet, why do all of us feel like it will work?" Allen wondered.

"Gabe, what are we going to do?" Zoe asked me out of the blue.

I was in my deep thoughts, so I didn't quite hear her until a couple of seconds passed by. That's when I noticed the others were looking at me with concerned looks on their faces.

Unfortunately, I didn't have an answer for them. I was just as clueless as they were.

There was also something else on my mind. It was about that little girl from before.

I felt a threatening aura coming from her that scared even me. Ever since I awakened my powers, there hasn't been that much to scare me, but that girl was different.

Her very presence sent shivers down my spine. My body couldn't stop shaking, and I was sweating like crazy.

It was overwhelming to the point where I thought I was going to pass out.

Just what the hell was she? Was she even human?

I couldn't stop thinking about this until Zoe caught my attention.

"Gabe! Do you know what we should do?"

". . . At the moment, I don't," I admitted. "After what was declared at the meeting, I couldn't figure out what we should do about it."

Everyone started to get even more anxious. I didn't want any of them to lose faith, so I should try to reassure them.

"Listen, we have one month until the Summon Ritual starts. We'll use this month to gather all the information we can and prepare ourselves."

"What about the demons?" Olivia asked.

"Right now, there hasn't been any word from them. No movements or plans about invading, so we've got nothing to worry about from them."

"You say that, but that doesn't make me feel any better."

"I know, but trust me."

Olivia didn't say anything but nodded as a sign of believing in me.

"Now then," I continued. "The problem with this Summoning Ritual is that Gordan is trying to call upon another hero, correct?"

"Yeah," Glenn answered. "Since the old hero, aka you and your ancestors, hasn't shown yourselves in years, Gordan thinks that they should summon a new hero."

"The question that needs to be answered is will the ritual work?" Zoe wondered.

Since the ritual hasn't worked for centuries, there should be no way that it'll work now, but I'm not too confident about it. Something tells me that after all this time, that ritual might work one month from now.

"How does the ritual work, anyway?" I asked.

"You draw a summoning circle and call upon the aid of the angels," Glenn explained.

"Angels?" I muttered in confusion. "Is that how it works?"

"That's right. From what I could tell, it seems that the angels have been denying our call for another hero, which is why the ritual hasn't worked."

"Then, if the angels are the ones that decided to give us another hero, how can we know?" I wondered.

"Well," Zoe spoke up. "There are Oracles that can tell us what the angels do, but they're a rare kind these days."

"Oh?"

I don't know much about Oracles, but I do know that they can see things from the future or from another realm. Speaking of which, I wonder if we have an Oracle of our own?

Hmm, I'll worry about that later. Right now, I need to do something about the ritual.

"Kyuu, you still with me?" I asked my shadow.

Kyuu then popped out of my shadow in her ninja outfit.

"Of course, my King," Kyuu replied.

"Good. I need you to send in some recon demons to keep an eye on Gordan. Only at a distance though. Since he's a Demon Slayer, he'll likely keep his guard up for spies." I ordered her.

"Understood, My King. I'll get my best subordinates for the job." Kyuu then left my shadow and ran off.

Okay, with my spies keeping an eye on Gordan and his progress with the ritual, I should be able to concentrate on other things now.

One of the things I should now focus on is how to spread my name. Thanks to that meeting, I now know that the demon nation knows about my existence as Demon King.

What I need to do now is build my reputation up more. So far, I haven't done anything as a Demon Lord, so I need to fix that.

The problem is I have no idea how to do that. The only thing I could think of was raiding a demon base or something, but that's only going to stir up the demons.

What I need to do is to stir up both the humans and demons, but to do that, I need to get both of them to see me in action.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I actually wish a demon horde would invade some town or city. If that happens, then I would've been able to show myself and display my power.

It wasn't like me to think like that, but I guess that was my demon side shifting my personality. I have noticed that I've been viewing things that I normally wouldn't view them as.

One of them is my perspective of humans. When I was at the meeting, whenever I saw a hunter, I thought about how puny or pathetic they were.

I didn't really notice it at the time, but I got a hint after my talk with Gordan. After he almost attacked me with his lightning bolt, I felt this uncontrollable anger swelling up.

My mind was also getting clouded with weird thoughts.

Am I being threatened by an insect? Who does this little pest think he's missing?

He wouldn't be acting so high and might if I showed him my true power. It'd be better if I could just kill this puny weakling.

These kinds of thoughts were flooding through my head. I didn't mind it at first, but once I noticed what I was thinking, I couldn't help but think that this wasn't right.

That's when I realized that what I was thinking wasn't even my thoughts. It was my demon side.

After realizing this, I knew what was going on and started getting nervous. What happens if my demon side takes over?

What will happen to the others?

I looked at Olivia and the rest of my team with a concerned face.

I can't let anything happen to my family. I'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe, even from myself.
