"I won't beat around the bush, I want to cancel the engangement." napabitaw ako sa utensils na hawak ko. Napatingin sila sa akin, pero hindi ko sila pinansin.
For a moment, I felt so happy.
"But why?!" hysterical na tanong ng aking Ina.
"Princess Ashanti isn't fit to be with Frederick. I'm so sorry but what she's done may cause conflict not only for you, but also for us. Her behavior is unacceptable, it's unjust." parang nadidiring sabi ng nanay ni Erick pero hindi ko 'to pinakinggan.
Nagkaroon ako ng pag-asang baka sakaling hindi pa huli ang lahat saamin ni Dylan. Sana... hindi pa.
"Then, you also don't deserve my family." seryosong sabi ng Tatay ko.
"You don't have the rights to say that to my daughter. She has her own reason and I understand her. If that little detail already ruined your judgement about her, then I'm sorry, you don't deserve to be our family." dagdag ni Mom.
For the first time, I guess, na-touch ako sa sinabi nila. I thought they hated me, well I guess I was wrong.
"This settles it then." pinunas na ng tatay ni Erick ang bibig niya gamit ang table napkin tsaka tumayo.
Sumunod naman sa kanya ang Reyna.
"Goodbye," ani ng Reyna.
I just looked at Erick. Nakayuko siya. Maybe he feels shy? I don't know.
Agad na umalis ang parents ni Erick pero nanatili siyang nakaupo sa tabi ko.
I was only looking at him—we all are.
Dahan dahan siyang tumayo at yumuko.
"I'm sorry for how my Parents have acted, it was just..." he stopped at madiin na pumikit bago ulit nag salita. "Nevermind, I have to go now. Thank you for the dinner, King and Queen of Araish."
"Take care, Prince Erick. We're also sad for this ungrateful news, but I know, you can find someone better. Thank you." my mom smiled.
They are so weird. Isang minuto ay ang sama ng tingin nila, pag katapos, ang saya na. What?! Is?! Happening?!
Nagpatuloy na lang ako sa pagkain.
Natapos na akong kumain, hinihintay ko silang matapos kumain. I was about to stand up because I really need to run errands as soon as possible, but my Mother spoke.
"Are you alright, Ashanti?"
"Of course, I am. Why wouldn't I be?" I was curious. Hindi ko alam kung bakit 'yon ang tinanong niya sa akin?
"You know, we know." sabi ni Dad
"You can tell us." they looked at each other and gave me meaningful looks.
O-kay.
"Tell you what?" takang tanong ko. Hindi ko ma-gets kung anong pinag-uusapan nila.
