"The new kid is such a freak."

Garroth couldn't help but overhear the conversation. He was on his way to his next class, when he caught sight of Ivy and her friends gossiping. Normally he didn't like gossip and rumors, or any type of drama really, but he couldn't help but be interested in a new student.

"We should teach them where they belong." Zenix suggested, cracking his knuckles. "Everyone here knows their place, and so will he."

"Not so fast, Zenix." Gene, the leader of the Shadow Knights, said in his deep and smooth voice. "He's been in a lot of big fights at Meteli High. We should be more considerate of our actions and how we go about anything we do."

"For once I agree with Gene, who is never right about anything." Ivy nodded, tucking some of her hot pink hair behind her ear. "This new student is a freak, but he's not some pessimist like Zane is."

Gene made a face at Ivy, who didn't seem to notice his offended glare. He was easy to get enraged and pissed off, and even easier to get on the bad side of. Only a few people were on his fairly good side, those people being the ones gathered, except for Garroth. However, Ivy, her friends, Michi, Ivan, Balto, Ein, and Vincent were all pushing their luck. It wouldn't be too long before the delinquent leader snapped and took away all their popularity and reputations.

Finally, long after the late bell rang, the group of school bullies separated and went their own ways. The Shadow Knights headed to the soccer field, Michi and Ivan headed towards their classrooms, Balto and Ein went off somewhere, and Ivy and her friends roamed the hallways aimlessly.

"Hello, Ivy." Garroth greeted her, going up and forcing a kind expression.

"Oh, hello Gareth!" Ivy beamed with joy, her eyes lighting up as she mispronounced his name... again.

"It's Garroth." He corrected her, getting annoyed from his name constantly being mispronounced. "I heard you talking about a new kid."

"Didn't you hear? Two new kids transferred over from Meteli High, a brother and a sister." She blinked, seeming shocked that he hadn't known about them. "The sister is pretty cool, she's going to gain popularity quickly here. She designs and makes her own clothes, including costumes for school and community plays. I'm pretty sure she even makes her own Halloween costumes. Her name is Cadenza."

"And what about the brother?" He asked, tilting his head. "I heard you call him a freak."

"O-Oh um..." She paled, clearly not expecting him to know that. "I was only joking around, y'know? He's just really different from us and I--"

"Spare me your lies, Ivy." He frowned, turning away from her. "I know you're one of the biggest bitches in this school."

Garroth began to walk away from her and her friends, leaving the hot pink haired female both bewildered and heartbroken. He stopped before reaching the staircase to go to the lower level of the school, turning back to face her. Ivy's eyes lit up at the action, some hope being restored.

"And his name is Laurance." Garroth announced, turning away and going downstairs.

How Garroth knew the new male student's name wasn't difficult to explain. He and Laurance had been childhood friends, living next door to each other when they had lived in Phoenix Drop. Then Garroth's family moved to O'khasis and Laurance's family moved to Meteli. Garroth had moved back to Phoenix Drop not too long ago, and it seems like Laurance just moved back into the neighborhood as well.

While he was caught up in his thoughts, he didn't see the person ahead of him. He bumped into them, knocking them over as he too fell down. He landed on top of the person, and they both let out groans from hitting the ground.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." Garroth apologized, standing up and offering his hand.

"No, it's my fault... I was in the way--" The person began, but cut themselves off as they looked up at him. "...... Garroth?"

Garroth was confused on why the person said his name like that. He looked at their features, trying to identify them. They had brown hair that fell into their eyes, which were a soft baby blue color. They looked around his age, maybe the exact same age as him.

"Hm?" The blonde hummed, tilting his head. "Is something wrong, Laurance?"

"So you do recognize me...." Laurance smiled a bit, standing up.

Garroth's eyes widened in surprise, as he took a step back. When they had known each other as little kids, Laurance had always been the shorter one. However, when he hit puberty, Laurance hit a huge growth spurt. He was the same height as Garroth, maybe an inch or two taller.

"You've gotten tall.." Garroth said without realizing it, a small blush on his face.

"Who's the short one now?" Laurance said in a joking way, grinning.

"I'm not that much shorter than you, only an inch or so!" He argued, crossing his arms as he huffed. "Is this payback for me always making fun of how much shorter you were?"

"Maybe." He said with a straight face, which was probably the only straight thing about him. (Well he isn't wrong...)

"I hate you so much for that." He huffed, but couldn't help other than smile.

"A lot of people hate me, like somebody (once told me--) named Zenix...? Brown, spiked hair and reddish eyes?" Laurance described the Shadow Knight with a raised eyebrow, like he was thinking hard. "Probably has like two brain cells, at most."

"Don't let him or the other two Shadow Knights bother you, they hate everybody." The blonde replied, crushing some dirt off of Laurance's shoulder. "Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

"Maybe." He said again, with another straight face.

"You aren't skipping class, are you?" He questioned, shadows covering his eyes. "I have rope in my garage, that'll be oretry effective in disciplining you."

Garroth couldn't help but laugh at the facial expression the brunette had. He looked so disturbed and uncomfortable, and he couldn't tell whether Garroth was joking or not. He wrapped his arms around Laurance, locking him into a tight hug.

"I'm just joking, Laurance!" Garroth laughed, grabbing his nose. "You take things too seriously."

"Some times it's better to take things too seriously than not seriously enough." Laurance shrugged, hugging him back.

"I think I know a way to help you relax~." He smirked, putting on an evil look.

"You were right, this is fun."

The two males were in Garroth's bedroom, sitting on his bed. They both had a controller in their hands, staring at the TV screen, where a video game was shown. They completely forgot about their homework, and had a sleepover in Zane's room. Of course this kicked the poor emo out of his room, but he got back at Garroth for it by completely trashing his room.

"I feel like something is off..."

"Like what?"

"I don't know, I just feel like in some different universe we're about to do the dirty."

"Did you just....?"
