Selena's POV

It was the first time I even dared to walk towards the front of her beautiful house. The front porch was decorated with flowers and bushes. Her front door was made of a dark wood, with a colorfully stained glass window in the middle. I pressed my thumb on the button of her doorbell. I didn't know why I made it this far without turning back. In my guts, everything about this was wrong. I knew she had just broken up with Wen, just to be with me. The stripes on my thighs were still visible as well. So many things made this situation anything but normal. I had dressed myself up just for her, just because she told me to. I usually don't dress up at all, I haven't worn this blue dress in ages. I'm surprised it still fits.

I was shaken out of my thoughts when I could see a warm light through the window of the door, as a figure walked towards the front door. I bit my lower lip, hearing her unlock the door. My last chance to run away had passed. And it was the first time Demi didn't just pop up, she walked through the door of the hallway like I expected her to. She finally made sense.

I was greeted with slightly widened brown eyes. She towered slightly over me due to the little step between the door and the stone ground. Her eyes went up and down, carefully scanning me. A slight smile appeared on her face in the process. I seemed to impress her, it gave me a little more confidence. "Welcome." She said, stepping back to let me in. "Thank you." I stepped inside and was greeted by the wonderful scent. The house smelled exactly like the lady closing the door and taking my coat like a gentleman. The hallway looked quite simple, just a few decorations here and there. My eyes fell on a rack of shoes. Was I supposed to.. "Please take off your shoes." She said as if she read my mind. "Oh, yes, of course." I quickly took my heels and placed them underneath the rack. Demi opened the door into the living room, attached to the kitchen and the stairs. It was beautiful here. I was greeted by classy antlers on the wall, candles everywhere and African wooden statues. The smell of food filled the room as well. "Wow.." I said, a bit perplexed. Demi smiled.

"Let me show you around." Demi walked further towards the couches. I noticed the clicking sounds made by her heels. She was wearing shoes, while she asked me to take mine off. It left a little frown on my face. "This is the living room." She said. "I like your decorations." I complimented. She smiled and gave a thankful nod. "I collect narrow wooden statues, mostly African. And I'm also into animal skulls, antlers and horns." She explained. I nodded impressed. "This is the kitchen table. You may take a seat if you'd like. Dinner is ready." I sat down on the chair she pointed at, feeling slightly awkward. I couldn't help but to ask myself questions I did not want to think about. Did Wen usually sit here? Demi turned around, placing the food on the table. "Quiche with leek and ham?" She said, waiting for my approval. I looked at it and smiled while nodding. "Sounds good." "Allergic to anything?" "Nuts." I looked at her. She nodded, grabbing the scoop and placing the food on my plate. She then placed it on her own plate. She turned around, back into the kitchen.

I observed the cutlery and plates. They were all so classy and yet antique in a way. And I was surprised by how good the quiche looked. Demi now came back with a bottle of wine in her hands. "Red wine?" She suggested. I looked a bit shocked at her. "I'm underaged..." "We're in a private location." She reminded. "I don't drink, sorry." I shook my head. "Don't worry about it." She placed the bottle on the table and walked back to the kitchen. "Champagne for kids?" She smiled. I grinned. "That's a joke, right?" "Of course it is." She grinned, opening the fridge. "Let's see. Coke, apple juice, jus d'orange." She summed, emphasizing the orange juice in French. I grinned. "Coke is fine, thank you." She walked back with another glass and poured the drink for me. "Thank you, really. For all of this." I spoke, fidgeting my fingers. "It's my pleasure." She said happily, pouring in a glass of wine for herself. She grabbed her cutlery, but before digging in she withdrew. "Oh, uh, do you say a prayer?" She asked, respecting any of my possible needs. I smiled, shaking my head. "Oh, well then, bon appetite." She said with a lovely smile.
