"Carlisle please don't tell me what I think it is." I sat at a table as he pulled out a few of his medical machines. "I mean Emmett said it wasn't even possible!" I ran my hands through my hair and held my head in my hands. "He said it wasn't possible so we didn't use anything," I whispered, though I knew he heard me. I had him lock his office door, not wanting anyone else to come in right now.

"Clary, calm down." He came over to me and grabbed my hands and pulled them away from my face. "We don't even know what is going on with you just yet. Don't overwhelm yourself." He smiled gently at me and I nodded my head. "Now I have to ask you some questions. The normal procedure, unfortunately." I nodded again, not even caring that my boyfriend's father is about to quiz me about my sex life.

"I guess there's nothing to hide now." I smiled sheepishly.

"It'll be okay." He pulled out a paper and wrote my name on it. "How many times have you and Emmett engaged in sexual intercourse?"

I had to give him a number? This was about to get more embarrassing than I thought. I wracked my brain and thought about each time we had sex, and I hesitantly told him my answer.

"I'm not sure, definitely more than once."

"Did each occurrence happen in the same evening?"

"No."

"How long has it been since you've engaged in intercourse?"

"A month."

"Did you use protection such as condoms or birth control any of those times?"

Had we? "No, I'm not sure. Not birth control." I answered honestly.

"No, we didn't." Emmett's voice answered from behind the closed door.

"Vampires aren't supposed to be able to have children so we didn't think to use it," I mumbled. "But I guess it's different since I'm just a human."

"How long was your last menstrual cycle and when did you have it last?"

Shit. "They usually last the normal five or six days but I was supposed to get it last week." Shit. Why didn't I see it? Or notice the lack of blood escaping me? Shit. Shit. Shit.

"Clary calm down." Carlisle approached me but I brought a hand to my chest as I started to breathe heavily. "Clary." Before he could do or say anything else, Emmett smashed through the doorway and rushed over to me. He brought me close to him and pressed his forehead against mine. He blew a small puff of air on my face and his usual icy breath shook me awake from my almost panic attack.

"You're okay." Emmett nudged my head against his chest and I turned my head to the side as I watched Carlisle smile softly at me. "Carlisle, is it possible?"

"I don't know." Carlisle shook his head. "It's never been heard of but never has a vampire falling in love and mating with a human been documented either. We'd have to go to the hospital to do an ultrasound just to be sure."

"Couldn't you just use a stethoscope and listen to her stomach?" Emmett was getting frustrated and I moved my body away from him before he moved away from me and paced around the office.

"Her heartbeat would be louder, I wouldn't be able to hear anything."

"How soon can we get this test done?" Emmett was desperate, but I was confused as to why. We never discussed having children, I was young. It wasn't an option yet. I didn't know if his worrying was for me or our possible child.

"I'll call the hospital and request a private room and I'll see if it can happen today." Carlisle moved to his desk and picked up his phone. He pressed it a few times before placing it against his ear.
