(y/n)'s Pov

You let go of Legolas' hands and turned to the darkening sky, "I will not be joining you for dinner tonight, goheno nin.. (I'm sorry)"

Legolas studied your face, confusion in his icy blue orbs. "And why is that? Did something upset you?"

You shook your head and let out a bell like giggle, "Not at all, I simply wish to retire early, save my strength for our journey tomorrow.."

He nodded and stood up, reaching a hand out for you to take, "I will lead you to your chambers then." He offered.

You nodded and took his hand, letting him lead you through the seemingly endless halls.

You gazed around in wonder, trying to memorize the path, should you need it-but gave up when everything seemed the same to you. As always.

You arrived at your door and gingerly let go of Legolas' warm hands from yours.

You smiled at him-to which he returned with his own and faced your door, just as you were about to enter though, he stopped you.

"You're hands. Most elleths have soft and smooth hands, yours are calloused, would you care to tell me why?" He asked politely.

You turned to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I once was a carrier of many weapons, the bow being my favourite one."

You gave a sad smile as you pulled your hand away, stepping backwards into your room.

"Long have those days been gone.. Goodnight, Legolas." You bid softly.

He took your hand and placed a gentle kiss on it, "Elei velui, (y/n)." (sweet dreams)"

He turned and left to the dining halls while you turned and headed inside your chambers, you quickly packed your belongings, basically everything you have whilst staying here.

A few dresses, your old hunting gear and clothes, and other basic necessities, once your bags were packed you placed them at the foot of your bed.

You mentally prepared yourself for the events that was yet to come as you lie in bed, your hair spread out, as did your dress.

"Tego ven i Melain am mand..(May the Valar lead us to safety)" You softly plea, trailing your eyes to the flickering light of a candle on your desk.

You decided that sleep would not come as easy as you had hoped, so to ease your troubled mind you took out your journal from the pack and sat at the writing desk, a single candle to illuminate your work.

You wrote out your thoughts and fears of the journey to come, but one phrase made you stop and reread it.

"I did not wish for this, I am certain that my heart belongs to another. And though he may yet exist, I often catch myself hoping he could be more like Legolas, he is everything that I find in an ellon. Yet there are no feelings between us, nor will there ever be, so why would I ever even begin to think so? He is a very good friend."

You smiled to yourself, despite not wanting Legolas as a husband, he still became your friend, that made you feel a whole lot better, knowing that something good came out of this whole ordeal.

You closed the journal and packed it again before blowing out the candle, the room was suddenly engulfed in darkness.

With the moon as your light, you tread towards your bed and laid on the soft mattress, feeling the stress of today's news and activities slowly escape your relaxed state.

Sleep came peacefully as the howling of the wind sang you a lullaby to enter the world of dreams.

The air was damp when you had awoke, the sky was cloudy, matching your saddened mood.

You quickly and quietly made your way towards the gates, with Elbereth as your guide, she seemed crestfallen about your coming departure.

Once you reach the gates your parents and the king stood by, to bid you farewell on your journey.

Legolas stood by two beautiful white horses, one that was yours——you could tell because he held your pack.

Your mother had tears in her eyes and your father looked proud.

"Thiach main(you look beautiful)
(y/n), smile my dear." your father encouraged, your mother came up to you and hugged you tightly.

Kissing your forehead she pulled away with hesitance, "One year, and yet I have already miss you greatly upon your departure." You laughed at this.

You nodded in acknowledgement at the rest of the elves and gave a soft smile, which seemed to lighten the mood for everyone present.

The king stepped forward and bowed his head in goodbye, "Harthon gerithach raid gelin a chwest adel thraw lín. (I hope you will have green paths and a breeze behind you.)" He said.

Legolas nodded and helped you unto your horse before climbing his, this was it, you would not see these elves for a year's time.

You will miss them greatly.

You and Legolas smiled at each other before making your way out the gates, and to the path that led to your future.
