Magnus POV

I slept for an immeasurable amount of time. A calm darkness covered my body. I would occasionally get flashes of images, most of them were of Alexander. I wondered how long I had been under, in a poison induced coma.

I felt a liquid that felt like fire enter my veins. That happened a lot. It burned and I curled tighter into a ball. Alec please hurry

Valentine's POV

A scream came from one of the dungeon cells. I groaned, thoroughly annoyed, and went to see what it was.

I came up to the cell where the angel was being kept. He was usually heavily drugged and sedated so he couldn't break free. The man was curled up in ball, his wings cocooned his body and he clutched his left shoulder. He let out another scream and moved around on the floor.

I cared about his health for the reason that he was an angel, of pure blood. Blood that held more purity than my own since the demon blood experiments of my youth. I tapped on the glass wall, getting his attention. The Angel's eyes were rimmed with red and his eyelashes were wet with tears.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"It hurts, he's here" he replied, pointing to his shoulder. There was a scorching red parabatai rune on the shoulder that he had been clutching.

"Who is here?" I asked, interested. Angels rarely bound themselves to a person in the form of parabatai.

"Let me see him" the angel begged.

"Lead the way, this better not be a trick or I'll pluck your wings and tear them from your body" I told him and unlocked his cage. The angel whimpered as he passed me.

The angel walked slowly towards the other prisoners. The large white wings were dirty, and dragged on the floor. He stopped at a cage where multiple people were surrounding it, jeering at whoever was in it.

"Move" I ordered. The people all moved away immediately. The man was in fact a warlock who was bloody and bruised, but seemed unaffected by the excess angel blood we had placed in his system in a failed attempt to wake him. It was Magnus Bane

"This is a warlock" I stated.

The angel knelt down and cradled the warlock like a child. The angel looked up at me, anger evident in his eyes and then turned his attention back to the warlock.

"He can't be your parabatai" I told the angel. He shook his head at me and pulled the clothing off if Magnus' shoulder; exposing a glowing parabatai rune on the warlock's shoulder.

"Impossible" I declared while shaking my head. "This isn't possible"

"You hurt him" the angel said softly. His voice grew in volume "Why did you hurt him?"

"He is a warlock, he can't wear runes" I replied, completely confused. "He has no use, the thing's heart pumps demon blood".

"He is not just a warlock. Magnus is so much more than you can begin to comprehend. It is not a good idea to be keeping him, they will find him and kill everyone in sight" the angel replied.

"Who will?" I questioned.

"The cruelest people to walk the Earth; The Demon Court. If you don't get him out of here they will come and kill all of us"

The gears in my mind spun. Was the angel right? Could I convince the Court to join my cause? Probably not; I took their pet and want to eliminate their species

"They wouldn't kill you" I concluded.

"Yes they will. They have before. They don't know about our bonding. I have as much to lose as you do. I swear, I'll take him back to his people and I will not tell your location. I don't even know where this is" the angel pleaded.
