DOUBLE TAKE (Part 8)

Making It Through

It's amazing how life can have many ups and downs, twists and turns, yet we still survive. Somehow through all the hurt, all the pains and sorrows, all of the regrets we learn to smile again. I truly believe my family deserves a medal for all the curve ball's we've been dealt. Time and again we have suffered loss, betrayal and grief but somehow we manage to glue ourselves back together and rise like the sun.

The loss of my grandparents was the biggest test we all endured. Forever there will be a hole in each of our heart's, a hole that can never be filled, a hole that continues to bleed, never healing. But here we all stand together as one pushing forward with determination. We will forever remain resilient on our quest to search for the one responsible for taking away the backbone of our family. Even knowing that there is a possibility that the responsible one may never be found we forge on. This empire won't rest for generations to come unless justice is served. Until we make sure our Grandparents death wasn't in vain, that they didn't die without dignity, may only then will their souls rest in piece.

There is one thing I have learned in the past few year's and that's never take anyone or anything for granted. It can all be gone in the blink of the eye. Don't stay mad at your loved one's for too long, they may not walk back through the door again. Another thing that I have learned is that in life there will be several moment's that take your breath away. When my grandparents faded from this world it took my breath away. But not all of these breath taking moment's are bad, some are pure happiness such as a sunset, birth of a child or meeting that special someone. The first time Tia confessed her love for me it took my breath away more than skydiving had done.

Right now I'm having dinner with the complete family and for once we are all smiling and laughing. No one is pointing fingers or holding grudges. We are just enjoying the company of each other. As for me, I'm sitting back and taking this moment in. Instances like this have been far and few inbetween as of late. My Pape  is at the head of the table with my mother seated to his left. One of their hands is clasped as they eat with the other. Pape may seem like he's off the mark but trust and believe he always knows everything and has a plan.

King set's to his right and for once they aren't tossing threats at each other. Instead they are laughing over talk. It's a rare occasion for King to be here these day's. Most of his time is spent in Las Vegas consulting Severo over his future business. Eventually I see it all coming to a boiling point but for now, in this moment all is well.

Next to my mom is my Aunt Miri. For week's you could see the strain from stress on her face over Cole's health. By the grace of God he pulled through and is sitting beside Miri as she fusses over him. Each though are laughing at last. Then beside King set's our forever friend Conner and Ela. He has kept us in stitches by sharing some funny tales about our Grandparents.

Beside of Cole sets my younger sister Demy. For the most part she is tuned out while texting her boyfriend from her phone hidden in her lap. Of course Pape has no idea that she even has a male friend so when he does discover it, it will be interesting. Next to Ela is Sire who pretends to be interested in all the chatter but I can see that his mind is on other thing's or possibly on someone. He's been very quiet and secretive as of late.  I think there maybe a special lady in his life but he's not willing to share it just yet.

CJ is beside of Demy and Alice next to him. CJ is focused on the all around banter and Alice seems a bit tired and pushing her food around on her plate. Next to Sire is Ari and Alex who are all laughs over whatever Pape just said. Beside Alice sets Duel who is continuously sending sexual gestures across the table at Zoe who is set beside of Alex. Zoe seems irritated by his advances and just ignores Duel. Next to Duel is Jennel who is too busy eating pie to pay attention to anything around her.

I'm tucked in beside of Zoe counting down the seconds until Tia's plane lands in New York. I did spend a week with her in Australia and then she spent a month here before flying off to Morocco for her next shoot. Sadly I was unable to join her but it will make our reunion that more sweeter.

Most of the men would never agree to let their woman fly off and I don't care for it much myself but I have to understand that Tia has her own dreams and who am I to stop her. Soon I'm sure her modeling career will come to an end and then we will be together everyday. I do make sure she is highly protected on her travels though.

We are getting along wonderfully and it's pure bliss but there is no wedding bell's in the future yet. Not that I haven't considered it, we just need to rebuild our relationship before taking such a leap. Nothing wrong with taking thing's slow.

Across from me is Chance and at the end of the table set's Mizery. Chance is doing all he can to gain Mizery's attention but she's much more interesting in twirling her knife than him. God bless any man that tries to go after Mizery. He'll need armor and possibly explosives. Eventually Mizery has enough of his flirtatious behavior and excuses herself probably to hunker down in her hole in the wall. She seems to be spending a lot of time in her little spot of security these day's. However no one mentions it because they understand her need to be alone. Supposedly it helps her racing mind so we respect it and are accustomed to her going missing while sorting through her issue's. I know it's tough on her but none of us know how to help. Looking at Chance I stood. "Better luck next time".

" She is one hard shell to crack". He sighed.

"Just be patient" .

Quickly I bid the family goodbye and left to meet Tia's plane. I stood there and waited for her to descend the steps and when she did her face kit up and in a nanosecond she was in my arm's.

And in that moment I lost my breath again.
