Your POV

John and I were on our balcony, absentmindedly looking at both streets and stars around us. His maroon sweatshirt was now on me rather than himself, not that he minded.

"..John?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think we'll be able to do things like this for the rest of our lives?"

"What do you mean, chickadee?"

"I mean like... attending fun little things like the fair, or spending each Christmas and New Years together... or even just waking up holding onto each other. All without the worry of what the guys could possibly be doing and thinking next."

John was silent, as I assumed he was processing what I just said.

I retracted myself slightly. "I'm sorry, mi amor. It's a bit stupid of me to ask, but I've just al—"

I was quieted by John leaning forward slightly and gently placing his lips on mine.

He pulled back after a moment. "Don't worry, chickadee. I understand where you're coming from. I think of the same things."

I looked up at him. "You do?"

John chuckled lightly. "Why wouldn't I? We've been together for three years now, princesa. Some times I can't help but worry if the current day could be our last."

It was quiet between us a beat or two before John spoke up again. "How long do you think the guys will keep trying?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. I don't think they'll ever truly get the hint, y'know?"

"Well," John mused quietly, "no matter how many times they say they love you, all three of them can't even add up to how much I do."

"You really think so?" I asked in a slight teasing manner, feeling him place his hand on my back again.

"I know so," he answered. I felt the confidence in his answer, but I also caught something else.

I got an idea. "Then prove it."

John looked at me. "Pardon?"

"I believe you, oh I do. But we can never be too sure."

He chuckled slightly, pulling back from me. "I'll need you to close your eyes then."

"Seriously?"

"Yes. You asked me to prove it so now I'm doing so."

"Fine."

I did as my boyfriend instructed, closing my eyes. It was silent a few moments before I heard John exhale softly and hesitantly. "Before you open your eyes, I want you to know I'm nearly winging this..."

I smiled a bit. "When don't you wing things? You don't need to sound so nervous, mi amor."

"When you open your eyes, I think you'll see why I'm nervous. Besides, you try being with a beautiful girl twenty-four seven."

I giggled. "Fair enough. Can I open my eyes now?"

John was quiet a moment, and I heard him exhale again. "G-Go ahead, princesa."

I opened my eyes, biting back a gasp. Immediately, I felt tears pricking my eyes as I looked at John on one knee.

He smiled sheepishly, pink coating his freckled cheeks. "So... we both know for talking quite a bit... I suck at speeches. To try and stay away from embarrassing myself, I'll keep it short."

I couldn't help but laugh through teary-eyes as John's eyes brightened slightly.

"There's a lot of things I could say, or that I could do, but I want you to know that I love you so much and that I'd do anything for you. And I do want to spend every Christmas and New Years with you, princesa. And go to more fairs, and wake up holding onto you. We can prove to the world we don't need anyone else to be truly happy, and that we can withstand anything and everything it throws at us."

John paused a moment, taking a breath. "So, (Y/N) (L/N), let me prove to you I love you more than anyone else, and finally give you the surprise you deserve, by asking you to marry me."

Without hesitation, I nodded, restraining myself from moving my feet. "Y-Yes, príncipe!"

His misty hazel eyes lit up as he stood back up, a bright smile on his face. I felt more tears slipping down my face as John slipped the ring on my finger. It was a simple silver band, but supported not only a/an (Y/B/S), but an opal too, John's birthstone.

As soon as the ring was on, I jumped into John's arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and hugging him tightly. I couldn't help but start giggling once I heard him laugh.

Pulling back a bit, I used one of my hands to wipe John's cheeks. "I think I'm supposed to be the one crying, mi amor."

He laughed a bit. "I'm just happy. So happy."

I giggled as he set me down, lifting his hand to wipe my own tears. I felt his thumb brush over my cheek as his other arm snaked around my waist.

John leaned down, closing the small gap between us. I wrapped my arms around his neck as his hold tightened.

I tilted my head slightly, deepening the kiss as I felt his hand run up and down my back.

After a few long beats, we pulled apart, and I felt John gently pick me back up, twirling me around and making me laugh.

When he stopped spinning, I wrapped my legs around his waist. "I can't believe it's official..." I whispered.

John pressed a gentle kiss to my jaw, and his breath grazed my neck. "It really is."

I felt a soft kiss on my neck. "You'll finally be Mrs. Laurens."

I couldn't help but blush. That would take some getting used to.

John's hazel eyes met mine. "Are you ready for the rest of our lives, princesa? We get to show everyone what for."

I nodded. "They won't know what hit them, príncipe. And there's nothing they can do now."

Predictable and cliché moment for sure, but it was so much fun to write
