Penn, a rogue werewolf who has been living a wild and lonely existence, suddenly finds herself in charge of sixteen orphaned werewolf pups. The Griffin pack has just suffered a violent coupe and the doomed Luna, Penn's only friend, begs her to take the orphans through the treacherous backcountry to the Orthos pack. Penn agrees to this monumental task even though as a rogue she's likely to get a hostile greeting from the Orthos when they arrive.
Both the journey and the arrival set change in motion in Penn in unexpected ways. Her sudden, unwanted guardianship of the orphaned pups starts to blossom into something more as she and the pups learn to trust each other. And the Orthos pack, instead of attacking and discarding her once she delivers their orphaned relatives to them, hold out a fragile but sincere hope of peace for her.
Will Penn find a home along with the pups in the Orthos pack? Will Penn's old pack, whose cruel Alpha unjustly exiled her, have something to say about it? Will the Orthos pack be able to protect the orphans from further threats from their original pack? Lovely, deeply emotional writing, and a different take on werewolf pack life. The author has been on hiatus but promises new chapters soon.
