▪ Chelsea how were you introduced to Wattpad and how has the journey been so far since June 2017?
I found Wattpad by complete accident. I was running my own book blog at the time and received a copy of "The Bad Boy's Girl" by Blair Holden. After I read it I realized it ended on a complete cliffhanger that was driving me insane. So, I did some research and found out that it was originally written on Wattpad, which is where I found the additional chapters I was dying for. After that, I made an account, lurked for a really short time, and posted the first few chapters of a book I was working on, Inner Demons.
▪ What encouraged you to start your own book club and why?
I've been a part of several book clubs and really enjoyed them but some were really hard to establish relationships with other members. I wanted to create a community where everyone could make friends. I originally started VooDoo House with a fellow Wattpader, then turned it into Twisted Skulls with other friends I had made on Wattpad, one of which being Reading_Mermaid08. We ran TS for a long while but then I had my third child, moved halfway across the country, and just needed a break. I was struggling with inspiration and needed a complete WP hiatus. Mermaid started a book club of her own and when I decided to come back a few months ago, I spoke with her and her fellow founder Red_Leasia who I had also known from TS. We talked about starting something new again, rebuild from the ground up, and so City_of_Shadows was born. Days later a mutual friend to all of us, Ashabellanar4life, agreed to join us as an admin. Running a book club is fun, but it's even better when you have partners, friends, to do it with. And that was probably a much longer answer than you were looking for. Sorry 😬
