(Calamity's POV)

"Shit shit shit!" I mutter

"There's no time to stand around!  GO!" Flapjackie ushers

"What about you?  You know what Wick can do!" Deadfire warns

"I'll be fine, just go, please,"

Thoughts swirled in my mind.  I've lost so many to that bastard, I can't let anymore fall to his clutches.  I won't allow it.

"Why don't you come with us?" I ask

She whips her head around to me, stunned at the question.

"R- Really?" She stutters

"We can't just leave you here, nobody is safe here with him in charge.  Deadfire and I have a bus waiting on the strip to take us back to the island," I reassure

"But how will I deal with Wick?"

"We'll be right out back, the window is cracked open so we're able to hear you.  If things get heated we'll rush back in to defend you, but if all goes well, he'll leave and you can follow us out,"

"Are you sure this will work?"

I pause, not confident in this rushed plan, but there's no time for Plan B.

"I hope so," I muster

Let's just say that didn't ease Flapjackie's nerves one bit.  Her eyes remained wide with anxiety, but we were out of time.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

"Shit, we have to go," Deadfire whispers

He turns to follow me out back, but whips around last minute to Flapjackie.  They look at each other for a moment, memories of the past flooding back.  They lean in and exchange a soft and subtle kiss.  It would have escalated further, but the situation was dire.  Deadfire immediately creeps over to me, leaving a tomato face Flapjackie by the door.  We creep through the kitchen and out the back door, sticking close to the wall and planting ourselves under the open window.

"Good morning Mr. President," Flapjackie murmured

"Good morning Flapjackie.  Rumors circulated overnight that Calamity and Deadfire Jane were roaming through the streets," A raspy masculine voice answered

I swear one of these days I'll choke that motherfucker

"So I've heard, so what's the problem?"

"The problem is not that they've returned, but of what they've done in the past," He started

"What they did?  I guess roaming through town is a felony these days,"

"Flapjackie the hell are you doing?" Deadfire whispered, worry filling him

"You've got a smart mouth for a girl whose illegally living on this property,"

Wait what?

"What?  This is MY house, I paid for it!"

"Not according to these Federal documents.  Turns out you've been evading us for years,"

"He's screwing her over, he KNOWS we're here," Deadfire mutters

"We could just arrest you on the spot, and call it a day... but,"

"Here it comes," Deadfire warns

"There is a way to wipe your slate clean," He offers

Silence falls, but only for a moment
