Scarlett's POV

I waited a few seconds before I moved, to be sure Klaus was truly gone. I let out a loud defeated sight, walked over my bed and sat down. I put my head in my hands and curled min finger in my hair.

Scarlett, what have you done? What's wrong with you?! I yelled at myself in my head.

I can't fall for him. I'm not falling for him. I'm just lost in this character I'm playing. It's not real...

You needed him to fall for you, that's all. Nothing more, nothing less. You accomplished that so you can stop now.

I need a drink.

I looked outside, it was starting to get dark. Maybe I can find a fun club to go to. I walked over to the door and was ready to leave when the window blew up. I abruptly turned around only to find nothing. I walked over to the window and poked my head outside. I looked down into the courtyard, nothing there either. What's going on? I know well enough not to ignore an event like this. It could be someone that's after me.

When I looked up from the courtyard I could see something floating toward me. A piece of paper. When it got close enough I grabbed it. This has to be a witch's work. I folded out the paper and read it carefully.

Meet me in the woods, you know where.

Interesting, there's only one place I've been in New Orleans that is surrounded by wood, the lake. This would be a good opportunity to get my mind off things. A mysterious note and a mission. I walked over to the door, grabbed my coat, and exited my room. I decided to use my vampire speed to get out without being spotted by any of the Mikaelsons.

-----

I arrived at the lake to be met with... nothing.

However, I could sense someone close by. I took a sniff of the surrounding air and quickly smelled a familiar scent. I turned towards the scent only to be met by a wolf with glowing red eyes. It snarled and growled in response to my calculated stare.

The second I saw those blood-red eyes I knew who I was dealing with.

"Benjamin Crawford, it has been a long time." I smiled and approached him.

He bowed his head in response and started to turn back into human form. I watched as his bones bent, crackled, and popped. It appeared painful. However, Benjamin once told me that he has gone through the change so many times, that it no longer hurt him.

When Benjamin finally returned to his normal self, he stood in all his naked glory in front of me. He let out a loud groan as he stretched.

"Man, my muscles are sore." He mumbled.

"Can you please put on some clothes before we talk?" I quickly responded, waving my hand in front of me as I turned away from him.

"Come on, May. it's nothing you haven't seen before." He said with a smirk as he picked up some clothes hidden behind a tree.

"Never voluntarily and please don't call me 'May' as long as you're in town. It's Scarlett." Benjamin put his clothes on and gave me a cute smile with a tiny glint in his bright green eyes.

"Going by your real name. I still prefer to call you 'May'. However, maybe Miss Clockworth would be better." He laughed and gave me a tight bear hug.  I hated that name, not one of my best works.

I didn't hug him back.

"Still not a hugger, huh? After all these years?" He asked with an amused smile on his face.

"You know I only said that was my name because telling a scared teenager that my name is literally red night didn't feel right at the time." I chuckled.

"However, I wish May was my real name. It sounds so calm and non-threatening." I winked at him.

Not much has changed since we parted ways, Ben." I chuckled lowly.

"You appear to still be with the witch I'm so proudly taking credit for introducing you to. What was his name again?" I asked jokingly tilting my head to the side with a satisfied smile on my face.

"You know it's Darius, no matter how hard you've tried to forget it..." Benjamin answered trailing off.

It's amazing that they have stayed together all these years even after everything that happened.

I remember the day I met Benjamin as if it was yesterday. It was really something, I have to say...
