As Selena and I got into Stefan's car, my anxiety began to set in and I prayed that Selena couldn't feel it coming off me.

To say I was worried was an understatement. I understood why Stefan insisted on bringing Selena, but I was also cursing him because he was putting her in danger. She was going to come face to face with witches. Men and women who were not afraid of us or our fangs. They weren't afraid of using their magic against us and many of them despised us, which made finding a witch to make Daylight Talismans so challenging at times. But I digress.

The bottom line was that Selena was at risk and what was worse was that she was going to be fully exposed. Stefan and I had agreed to meet the witches in a coffee shop on the west side of town. A perfectly suitable location. It was public, so they wouldn't be able to use their magic for fear of exposing themselves. But that also meant that using our fangs would risk exposing us as well. It was for that reason that I was against Selena coming with us. If anything happened, Stefan and I would be able to do very little to help her.

I felt someone touch my arm and turned to meet her gaze. Selena's brown eyes held understanding and I knew she had sensed my anxiety.

"I'll be fine," she assured me, "Trust me."

I took a deep breath and nodded. I did trust her. It was the witches I didn't trust.

We pulled up to the complex and went straight up to the penthouse.

Stefan ordered some Chinese food and had it delivered to the penthouse.

"Frate, cumnată, dinner is served," Stefan told us as he set the takeout boxes on the kitchen island.

"Really, Stef?" Damien asked with a raised eyebrow, "Do you see any indication that you should be referring to Selena as such?"

Stefan grinned mischievously.

"What did he say?" I asked. I really needed to learn Romanian.

"Well he called me frate, which is Romanian for brother and he called you cumnată, which is Romanian for sister in law," Damien explained.
