Chapter Fifteen

Marius. I recalled the siblings mentioning him the night that Darren attempted to kill us in Damien's penthouse. This was the man that had apparently left Queen Maricara unprotected only to have her be slaughtered by the Hunters. I wasn't sure what the whole story was, but nothing about his current emotional aura gave me any reason to fear him.

"Damien, you wound me," Marius told my furious, beloved King, "Surely I am allowed to get to know such a pretty girl?"

Damien's eyes turned a darker red as he got angrier.

"Leave Marius, we will discuss this after the meeting!" Damien growled. Marius scowled and left the room, slamming the door shut behind him. Gabriel, Starlene, Sorina, and Damien's eyes returned to normal and Damien turned to the other leaders.

"My apologies," he said as he began to calm down.

"It's understandable," Griffin assured him.

"Agreed," Tatiana added, "We all know that Marius can be a bit...well...inappropriate at times."

"Going back to why we're all here," Sorina stated, trying to steer the meeting away from the topic of Marius, "Do any of you have any suspects?"

"I have a one," Neoma replied, "Raven has often expressed her dislike of other supernaturals. I brought her to my meeting with Damien, Stefan, and Selena in hopes that she would panic and reveal herself as a traitor, but no such luck."

"I have a suspect as well," Tatiana replied as she placed a photo on the table so that the rest of us could see it. It was a photo of a man with dark hair and tree bark brown eyes. "This is Dylan. He's a fairly new faerie, and seems a little shifty at times."

"My suspect is Willow," Griffin stated as he placed a photo of a woman with blonde hair and brown eyes, "She's an Omega, and wants desperately to become the Alpha. It wouldn't surprise me if she's using the League of Light to eliminate her competition."

"Gabe, I understand that you and Star have been doing some investigating of your own," Damien told his brother.

"We have," Gabriel replied, "And we suspect that Marius is the traitor. He cannot be trusted." Stefan slammed his fist down on the table in anger and frustration.

"Gabriel! He saved Lex! He isn't the traitor!" Stefan growled as his eyes flashed red.

"He left Mother to die, Stefan!" Gabriel growled as his eyes turned red. He was furious. He stood and Stefan stood as well. They approached each other and it looked like they were going to fight, but Damien got between them.

"Enough! Both of you!" Damien growled and his eyes flashed a deep red. Both Gabriel and Stefan shrank back under their older brother's furious glare.

"If you don't trust Marius, that's fine!" Stefan told Gabriel, "But don't pin this on him! He's a good man!"

With that Stefan stormed out and slammed the door behind him as he left. Starlene rubbed her temples and Damien pinched the bridge of his nose.
