*Selena*

"What do you mean Hayley was right?!" I demanded.

"I mean she was right," Ella replied as she crossed her arms, "You aren't the Selena I remember. You have power and wealth now and from where I stand, you're reveling in it."

"Watch your tongue, Fledgling!" Starlene hissed.

"And just when did you talk to her?!" I demanded. Ella went pale and in that moment, part of me knew that she had said something she hadn't meant to. Did she have something to do all the trouble Hayley, Marius, William, and the League of Light had caused us? Part of me thought so, but I needed to hear it. I needed to hear her say it to truly believe it.

Ella was silent and her silence was wearing everyone's patience. Damien had finally had enough.

"Speak Fledgling!" he demanded and black flames appeared at his feet. Ava and Leon backed up in fear. I'm pretty sure they would have run out of the room as fast as they could, had they not have been stopped by a group of wispy shadows blocking the doors.

"And just where are you two going?" Starlene asked, "Come here and listen to what your blood sister says."

"I...I spoke to her before we went to Equinox that night," Ella admitted, "I told her where to find us. She told me that someone would arrive to take Selena later that evening and that it was my job to make sure you were outside during that time. Things worked out in my favour, I guess, since you ran out of the club in shock after meeting Damien."

Shock and betrayal coursed through my veins. The attack at the club that night, it hadn't been a coincidence. It had been planned and Ella had been involved.

"And the penthouse? Are you responsible for revealing the location of the penthouse to the League of Light?" Damien asked.

A bolt of lightning struck the ground, barely missing Ella.

"Answer the High One, Ella!" Gabriel shouted, furious with his Fledgling.

"I am! I'm responsible for that!" Ella replied as tears streamed down her cheeks, "Marius knew the location, but he wasn't sure if you had moved or not. I confirmed the location for him and he passed it along to the League of Light."

"Why, Ella?" I asked in shock, "You were my friend. Why did you do it?"

A watery whip struck Ella and forced her to her knees, courtesy of Sorina. It seemed the Drakes were used to flexing their extra abilities in the throne room.

"Answer her, Fledgling!" Sorina commanded.

"I...I did it because William told me about all of the things the Drake siblings were doing in Cygnus Keep," Ella admitted, "Tossing tradition out the window whenever they wanted, partying in clubs. Think about it, they aren't exactly fit to be royalty." The water whip cracked against Ella's back.

"Things could get much worse for you, Fledgling," Sorina said in a cool, calm voice, "Watch what you say." The calmness in her voice sent a shiver down my spine and made me realize that though Sorina was the quietest of the three Drake sisters, she was also one of the most dangerous.

"And you thought Marius would make a better ruler than the Drake siblings?!" I asked, "Are you really that blind, Ella?! Do you have any idea what he did to me when he got his hands on me?!"
