*Selena*

"Selena?" I heard an all too familiar dulcet voice ask. I took a deep breath and turned around.

"Hi Damien," I greeted him.

It had been about an hour since I'd spoken with Alexandra and realized my feelings for Damien, but instead of listening to the youngest Drake and talking to Damien, I had hidden in a corner of the room, relatively out of sight. But I suppose it wasn't as good of a hiding place as I initially thought.

Damien stood in front of me and held out his hand.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked.

"I don't know the steps," I replied before mentally kicking myself. That had been a lame response.

He smiled at me.

"I'll teach you," he told me. Why was I so nervous? What was I afraid of? Rejection? Probably. But I knew that I'd most likely never get another chance like this and I knew in my heart that I had to take it.

"Then I guess my answer is yes, Your Majesty," I said as I grinned mischievously and curtsied before him. He chuckled and lead me to the dance floor. He placed a hand on my waist and I held back a gasp as I felt a bolt shoot through me. He had never really touched me before other than offering me his hand or arm. This felt right. He took my other hand in his and we became to whirl around the floor.

"Are you enjoying yourself?" Damien asked.

"Yes, I am," I replied with a smile.

It was silent for a moment before I took a deep breath, plucking up the courage to say what I needed to. Then I spoke.

"I was hoping I could talk to you, but not here," I told him, "Somewhere more private."

He looked curious and he nodded in understanding.

"Meet me in my study. You remember where it is don't you?" he asked. I nodded, so he continued, "Good. I'll see you soon, I just have to let my family know that we're stepping out for a few minutes." I nodded and the song finished. I curtsied at him and he bowed before me. Then I slipped out of the ballroom relatively unnoticed. I rushed to Damien's study and I was surprised that I found it as quickly as I did. I entered and began to pace the length of the room. My heart was pounding in my chest and my hands were shaking. Was I really doing this?

I heard the door open and close and then I heard his gorgeous, dulcet voice.

"Selena?" he asked. I turned to look at him. He was looking at me questioningly and I desperately tried to keep my anxiety and nerves in check. "Are you alright?" he asked, "You look pale."

"I'm fine," I replied in a shaky voice, "I'm just nervous."

"What are you nervous about?" he asked.

"This," I whispered before pressing my lips to his. It was brief and I pulled away. He was surprised, but there was something else in his eyes. Something I couldn't place. "I'm so sorry. That was really stupid of me and—" I rambled.

"Selena," he whispered, "You have no idea how badly I've wanted to do that for the past month."

"Why didn't you?" I asked.
