"Joel," David Smallbone, his father, said sternly. "Your siblings are all at the hospital. You need to go now."

"But-"

"No buts. You're going, and that's final."

Joel pouted, but followed his father into the car anyway.

"Come on, Joel," Rebecca, his older sister, taking his hand."You have to meet his. Luke's the cutest thing ever."

"You said I was!" Joel protested.

"Well, not anymore."

"I'm not seeing him." He crossed his arms and pouted. Rebecca sighed.

"Don't be a baby, Joel."

"I-"

"Joel,"David warned.

Joel sighed, then climbed onto the bed where his mom sat holding a white bundle.

"Hey, buddy," Helen said, smiling at him at him."Come on, Lukey."

Joel scowled, then suddenly landed face-first into the blankets. The back of his head burned.

"David!" Helen gasped.

"I'm tired of his accent," David told her.

"That doesn't mean-"

"Great job, Joel," one of his older brothers said sarcastically. "You always manage to ruin everything."

"Daniel!" Helen exclaimed. She turned to Joel, who had now completely buried himself in the covers.

"Come on, baby. It's okay," she told him.

"Go away!"

"J-" David began.

"Dav, why don't you and the others head on home?" she suggested.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Okay, then."

He and the older children filed out of the room, leaving only Helen, Joel, and Luke.

"So now do you wanna meet him?"Helen asked.

"Nope, he replied, his voice muffled by the blankets.

"How 'bout you just look at him, then?"

Grunt.

Joel dug himself out of the blankets and peered at his baby brother.

He's ugly," he decided.

"No, he's not."

"Yes, he is!"

"C'mon, Joel, he's adorable."

"Nope. He ugly."

"He's,"Helen corrected.

"Whatev."

"You learned that from Rebecca, didn't you?"

Joel grinned. "Maybe?"

Helen smiled at her son, then ruffled his hair. Joel pulled back immeditley.

"No touch!"

"Hey, I'm your mother. I can ruffle your hair all I want."

Joel then reached over and pulled baby Luke's nose, causing the infant to start screaming.

"Joel!" Helen exclaimed."Hush, baby, baby, it's olay." She rocked Luke while glaring at Joel.

"Hey, he's my brother. I can pull his nose all I want."

"Really?" Helen said, giving him a look.

Joel only grinned.
