"So," Pat Peters said as she dished some Spicy Extreme Spaghetti onto her son Anthony's plate."Joel. Moriah."

"Oh no,"Joel groaned from across the table.

Tony, Pat's husband, laughed.

"Shh. You haven't even heard my question yet."

"I already know it's not good."

"Anyway,"Pat continued, ignoring him,"when are you and Mo gonna give me grandchildren?"

"You already have two,"Joel answered. Moriah suddenly became very interested in her pasta.

"A cat and a dog. I want a human grandbaby."

"Umm…"Joel glanced at Moriah.

"Oh no,"Pat groaned."You guys haven't talked about it."

"We have. It's just…"

"One of you doesn't want a kid?"

"Yeah. Moriah."

Tony suddenly blurted,"Pat, leave her alone!"

"But I can't!" Pat argued."I want a human grandbaby! Moriah can't be selfish like that and-"

"Yeah, Moriah," Bianca drawled."I need a niece."

"Stay out of this,"Tony warned her as Moriah buried her face in her hands. Joel wrapped his arms around her.

"It's okay,"he whispered.

"No, it's not!" Pat screamed.

"How did you-"

"I read your lips. Even though it's somewhat covered by her hair."

"Joel, just knock her-" Anthony began.

"Stop it!" Moriah suddenly screamed."Just shut up! All of you!"

She stood up and stormed upstairs to her former bedroom, where she and Joel were staying. Moriah grabbed her purse and jacket and returned to the kitchen, where she stole her dad's car keys.

"Where are you going?"Joel asked worriedly.

"Out."

"Please be careful."

"I'll try."

Moriah left.

"Good job, Pat,"Tony snapped."Now Moriah will end up dead in a ditch."

Pat opened her mouth to argue, but Joel beat her to it.

"Just stop,"he sighed.

Pat nodded, and the rest of the dinner ended in awkward silence.
