title: cold

Tokyo was cold, you'd come to learn. With the three years you'd lived here with your daughter, you'd have thought that the cold would've started bothering you as soon as winter started.

But it was only three years later that you actually thought, 'oh my, I'm cold'.

It was currently around eleven o'clock in the night on a winter's day in Tokyo, and Jolyne was currently laughing her head off at something her grandmother was telling her a few rooms across from you. It was a beautiful sound, the sound of a child's laugh - but it had been going on for ages, your ears were starting to ring, and you were cold and tired and depraved.

     But deprived from what?

     Or rather, who?

     Your husband, of course.

Jotaro Kujo, the father of your daughter, had left for Morioh about two weeks ago, and you hadn't heard a word from him other than a telephone call last week. You really loved him to pieces, but he could be forgetful at times. It was ironic, really; in battle, he could remember even the slightest detail and use it to his advantage, and yet forget to call his wife every once in a while.

And thus, you were lonely, cold, and sad. Jolyne had kept you company, with her big beams and her cute little eyes, and Holly had come over a few days ago to help out too. Jolyne always loved the company of her grandmother, even if it was just a telephone call or a postcard. She probably liked how different Holly was to Jotaro, and preferred her hugs and kisses to Jotaro's awkward pats on the head.

But, on the inside, all you wanted was for your big and warm husband to come home. He would keep you contented and, hopefully, not cold. Sometimes, in the winter, albeit not often, Jotaro would hold you extremely close to him and rest his head on top of yours, not letting go until he felt like it. It was always fun to be loved by someone who hated absolutely everyone, and Jotaro was an absolute pleasure to be with all the time.

Aw. You almost felt sad now.

Wait, hang on - oh, there went a tear. Shoot, now you were crying.

Jotaro's absence really made you quite sad at times. Sure, when he was around, it was always a memorable time and you always had the time of your life. However, he always left for business trips due to his career in Marine Biology, and because of his stand, many people wanted him for various other things.

The busy city scenery outside did little to nothing to calm your nerves. You couldn't help but feel tense from almost breaking down while Holly was in the vicinity. But at least Jotaro would be home soon enough.

     Hopefully.

——

About a week later, Jotaro still hasn't called you. You were beginning to get worried, knowing that he was probably dealing with stand users left right and centre, but you knew better than to doubt him.

You were currently standing up in the lounge, looking out into the city and admiring the lights and colours. Tokyo was always beautiful from up above, with all the billboards flashing bright images and videos while the blinkers and lights from the cars danced as everyone drove past mindlessly.

The luxurious apartment was still just as cold as it was before. Holly had left this week as her husband was due to come home, and Jolyne was quietly sitting at the table, not making a noise.

     At least... she was...

A pull on your trouser leg pulled you from your thoughts, directing your attention to the small girl below you. Jolyne's eyes were just like her father's - navy blue eyes that held much more emotion than her face did, along with thick eyelashes that made you want to melt whenever she batted them. Jolyne pouted as she pulled at your leg once more.

"Mama," she whined, wrapping her tiny arms around you, "when's Papa coming home?"

You picked Jolyne up and rocked her quietly. Pressing a few kisses to her forehead, you replied, "soon, dear. Don't worry about it."

Jolyne couldn't help but worry. She'd always been a worrier; panicking about the smallest of mistakes and crying over whatever she thought was her fault. She was always blaming herself for other people's mistakes, much like Jotaro. "But what if he doesn't come home?"

You laughed at that, despite the pang in your heart. "Of course he'll come home. He has to."

She buried her face in your shoulder, rubbing her tiny palms across your back mirroring what you were doing to her. "I believe you."

You and Jolyne stayed in the lounge for a bit longer, occasionally pointing out an interesting looking advert or a fancy car in the street. It had been about half an hour before you heard the door start unlocking.

"Mama," Jolyne whimpered, "there's a robber."

You said nothing. It couldn't have been a burglar, as burglars don't have the keys to someone else's house. Holly couldn't have come over, as she lived on the other side of Tokyo. Joseph was in America with Suzie, so...

     No.

Putting Jolyne down on the sofa, you ran to the door and opened it for whoever was struggling with the keys. And there, right before your eyes, was the husband you hadn't seen in almost a month.

You felt the tears spring up and gather at the corners of your eyes. He was finally home...!

"Jotaro!" You exclaimed, throwing your arms around him. "You idiot, I was worried about you!"

Jotaro let out a low laugh, returning your actions. He pressed a few kisses to your cheeks and to your lips and remained gazing into your eyes for a few minutes. Until, of course, Jolyne ran in, joining in on the now group hug.

"Papa!" She joyfully shrieked. "My Papa's home!"

You could hear the tears in her voice. She too seemed happy that Jotaro was home.

Jotaro smiled. A rare sight indeed.

"I didn't know I mattered this much," he grumbled, "how come you've both missed me so much?"

You playfully slapped him across the back. "You didn't call for three weeks! Only once did you speak to me! Jolyne and I missed you so much!"

He smiled again and brought you in for another kiss. "Well, I'm here now. And the stand users are gone."

Jolyne cheered, despite not quite knowing what a stand user was yet. "Bye-bye, stand users!"

"Finally," you muttered into his ear, "I won't be cold anymore."
